As an update, here’s what’s in the pipeline:
We’re pitting two ideas against each other for our next film project. We’ll have two short scripts acted on stage, and whichever one is better received, we’ll make a film out of it. So far we’ve got an early draft of one, and we’re working on the second.

After coming up with names, we still needed to determine how characters would look (for future films). We took some inspiration from fungus too.
Dwayne is named after Dwayaangam quadridens and he's also tall and thin.

Kneallhazia solenopsae is a fungus that infect fire ants. It's in the family Thelohaniidae, and one of the researchers who studied it was named Hazard. This is where the character Theo Hazard comes from. Foreshadowing?

We're working on storyboards and art for Fun Gal and are taking some design inspiration for the characters from their fungal namesakes. Not that we have much to go on with fungi this small. Rozelle is named for microscopic, parasitic Rozellomycotina Tedersoo

For most names in Fun Gal we had to resort to microscopic fungi. 3 characters are named after Microsporidia: Dr. Abel Acevedo from Abelsporidae Azevedo, Janice from Janacekiidae Issi, and Matilda from Nosematida Labbé.

For Fun Gal, we did pun names again, but fungal puns are harder than corn puns. Anita is named after Amanita Muscaria. Not a lot of other options. We're not going to name characters Portobello or Shiitake.
