Intersections: the clapback Intersections is a publication dedicated to providing a space for members of marginalized communities to share their stories with the community at large. PS.

Intersections: the clapback is a University of Toronto-based publication. We will be publishing an annual journal, the Clapback, at the end of the 2015-2016 year as well as holding events related to our club’s mission and mandate. The founding editors of Clapback came together after they realized that most of the spaces on campus where visibility mattered (student politics, journalism, club admini

stration, et cetera) was populated by mostly cishet white folks therefore, shutting out and systematically erasing the voices of marginalized individuals. As a result, we are prioritizing the work and stories of marginalized folks who are emerging writers, artists, designera and creators. DISCLAIMER: This isn’t meant to be the only space dedicated to highlighting marginalized voices but rather, a stepping stone in making student media more equitable and inclusive. The founding editors value the importance of learning and unlearning the privileges they have in regards to their intersectional identities as it pertains to gender, race, class, ability, sexual orientation, religion, and other axes of identity interact on multiple and often simultaneous levels. If you are a cishet abled white person, we’re not excluding you. We’re just asking to you be mindful of the privileges you hold and the space you’re taking up when you’re thinking of contributing or taking part in our events.
