Wuilliez bows out of 100 meters breast stroke

Antigua and Barbuda's Jadon Wuilliez bowed out of the 100 meters breast stroke at the Paris Olympics today (July 27) despite a second place finish in Heat 2 of the preliminary round. Wuilliez clocked a time of 1:02.70 to finish behind of Iceland's A. Mckee who won the race in a time of 1:00.62.
Despite the galant effort, Wuilliez's time placed him 26th overall but only the top 16 advance to the semifinals.

The Antigua & Barbuda Red Cross Society (ABRCS) is the recipient of a timely donation of disaster relief items from the United States Agency for International Development USAID.

The items include tarpaulins, and an assortment of solar lights which will no doubt improve the ABRCS response capacity during disaster.

🚨 Update: Sagicor Wire Removal in Progress 🚧

The Development Control Authority (DCA) has ordered Sagicor to remove the controversial barbed wire from their headquarters' fence within 24 hours. Crews began the removal process this morning.

Earlier this week, Sagicor installed the wire to deter Carnival revellers from potentially damaging the fence. This move sparked community debate about safety and the spirit of our festivities.

🇦🇬 Jadon Wuilliez makes waves for Antigua and Barbuda in Paris! 🏊‍♂️🌟
Incredible performance in Heat 2 of the Men's 100m Breaststroke! Jadon clinched 2nd place with a time of 1:02.70.

Jadon Wuilliez is making his Olympic debut in Paris. He holds the Antiguan national records in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke events. Wuilliez has competed in two World Championships, in 2023 and 2024. He is currently a student at Texas Christian University in the United States.

The distraught father of a prisoner who died after an alleged altercation with a prison guard is continuing to appeal for justice.

Twenty-six-year-old Ricknaldo Isaac, who was serving a one-year sentence for malicious damage, died in May while being treated in hospital.

He had been left paralysed after a guard allegedly slammed him to the ground causing severe spinal injuries to the inmate.

Grenades FC off to winning start in CFU Club Shield

The Sandals/Inet Grenades FC got off to a winning start in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Shield this afternoon with a dominant 6-2 triumph over the Guyana Defence Force in Curacao.
The Antigua and Barbuda team came from a goal down after Kelsey Benjamin had put Guyana ahead from the penalty spot in minute 20.
Augustin Sherman drew Grenades level on minute 35 before Renay Malblanche (65), Malcolm Stewart (71), Luis Labrada (74), Rakeem Henry (78) and Daryl Massicot (90+4) each scored once in the second half to put the game beyond doubt. Scott Shemar (82) scored the other goal for Guyana.
The win sends Grenades FC into the second round of the competition where they will meet SV Real Rincon out of Bonair.
