The City of Galt seeks input from residents on setting district election boundaries. Submit your suggested map(s) by January 14th!
City Council is seeking input on the district voting map for Galt.
Community members have the opportunity to contribute their thoughts on how district boundaries should be drawn to best represent their neighborhoods.
🔹 How Can You Get Involved?
We encourage all residents to participate by drawing and submitting their maps to help shape the future of our city's representation. Maps drawn by the public often reflect logical boundaries based on the community, and many cities and districts prefer selecting a public map.
When completed, email the map or a photo of the map to [email protected] or return it in person to City Hall, 380 Civic Drive, Galt, CA, by January 14, 2025. If maps are received in person at the January 21, 2025, public hearing, they will not be considered until the next scheduled public hearing.

🔹 What Does This Mean?
The City of Galt is transitioning from at-large elections to district-based elections to select our City Council Members. This change aims to ensure fair and equitable representation for all areas of our city. The first district-based election will be held in November 2026. Under the current at-large election system, voters citywide elect Council Members regardless of where candidates reside. With district-based elections, the city will be divided into geographic districts, and voters in each district will elect a Council Member to represent their specific area.
