I grew up supporting Kaizer Chiefs and I still do today and will always do, but what's currently happening at the club is not Ayoba!

Bafana meets Cape Verde for the right to reach the semi-finals.

Now this is where things get a bit tricky for Bafana.

In their last meeting, Cape Verde won two world cup qualifiers back-to-back in September 2017.

Overall, the two nations have met five times with South Africa winning two and Cape Verde winning two and one game ending in a draw.

Going into the crucial last quarterfinal match at Stade Charles Konan Banny de Yamoussoukro there is little evidence to separate the two nations especially taking the head-to-head statistics into consideration.

Looking into the recent form at AFCON23 the Islanders have not lost a single game and are on a good campaign after beating GHANA (2-1), MOZAMBIQUE (3-0), drawing (2-2) with EGYPT and winning (1-0) against MAURITANIA in the last 16.

Most of their players are staying and playing in EUROPE, SAUDI ARABIA, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES AND UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Their captain Stopira is the only player in the squad who plays in their domestic league for one of the most successful clubs in Boavista Praia.

South Africa vs Morocco head to head is a fairly balanced equation especially going into the last 16.

They have met nine times with each nation winning 3 games a piece and the remaining 3 ending as draws.

But if recent form at AFCON is anything to go by Morocco could have an upper hand as they have won 2 of their group games and drawn one amassing an impressive 7 points finishing as group winners.

On the other hand South Africa started slow following their 2 - 0 loss to Mali in the opening game but managed to bounce back in the second game beating neighbours Namibia and completing their group matches with a goal less draw against Tunisia managing to collect 4 points finishing as runners up.

On paper Morocco look like a finished product but games are not played on paper.

Morocco are yet to lose a game while South Africa have lost once, Morocco have played Southern African opponents in Zambia in the group stages and South Africa have played North African opponents in Tunisia which could give either nation an idea of what to expect from their opponents.

Bafana are on the brink of making history and I won't be surprised if they emerge victorious against the Atlas Lions.

HO TLABA JWANG?

South Africa will come to a stand still Saturday afternoon when two sleeping giants of South African football lock horns in Johannesburg.

Kaizer Chiefs is hosting Orlando Pirates at the First National Bank (FNB) stadium in Nasrec, kick-off 15H30.

If recent form is anything to go by especially reading into the mid-week games in the DSTV PREMIERSHIP, Chiefs should be firm favorites after winning (3-2) against bottom lying Cape Town Spurs.

While Orlando Pirates had to dig-deep in their (1-0) victory against a stubborn a Sekhukhune United.

Winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is and form won't count for much in a game of this magnitude. It will boil down to the attitude of individual players bouts or tussles and who wants it the most!

Goodluck to both set of fans in what promises to be a high scoring game.

ELSEWHERE

The African continent will be divided into two when the giant of the South Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to salvage a win against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.

The first leg of this affair ended in a (2-1) win for Wydad in North Africa.

A one goal win will be more than enough to secure Downs the inagural African Football League (AFL) trophy and a lucrative price money.

Coaching prowess will be on display as the unconventional Rulani Mokwena will be hoping for a much better defensive display from his charges against his ultra offensive counterpart Adil Ramzi.

Goodluck to Bafana ba Style!
