60 h Winter Bushcraft - A-Frame Bucksaw - One Lavvu Canvas Poncho - No Talking
Welcome to my Survival!
I've been wanting to try a few days in horrible conditions without food for a while now. Hard but interesting experience. I realized right away the batteries would not last if I were to shoot everything I did during this weekend. So I had to shoot effective and I spared you the countless hours of frustrating ice fishing and me melting snow in front of the fire. Also did not include the first overnight where I set camp in the dark, and used the Lavvu as a bivy and slept in it with my Carinthia sleeping bag.
First day without food was no problem. Second day all energy left me and I spent most of the day in the sleeping bag except for a few hours of fruitless fishing. Last day my body finally went into starvation mode and I had some energy back. One doesn't feel like carving kuksas starving that is for sure.

Bushcraft solo overnight in the wild. In my opinion this is the optimal setup for one Lavvu Poncho. Worked like a charm. Some small signs of leakage where the branch lifted the back, no problem in this weather but if there would have been rain and high winds I suggest small sticks attaching the same way at two anchor points instead of one long stick across .
Im constantly trying to question how I make videos. In every new video I'm trying to do something different. It can be content or just tweaking a color profile. A lot of people told me they want to see more what I do out there. More gear etc. So in this video I'm showing more what I do. So tell me what you think. Is showing me packing a sleeping bag boring?
The bacon wrapped chicken leg was SO good! No spices just a few slices of bacon wrapped around the leg attached with small sticks.
As always, all material for crafting brought to the location and not harvested on site.
Thanks for watching!

Welcome to my Survival!
4 days bushcraft camp. Typical weather with snow to changing weather with rain and high winds. White one day and spring the next and back to freezing weather again. But I love this type of changing weather in nature.
You all know my passion for making different kind of saws in the woods. After the third day upgrade I did with the coils etc I reached a roads end. Can't make a better saw than that. It was an absolute delight to work with. I'll probably put my hand on it making a nice finish etc and use it for a while more.
I get a lot of questions how I can eat meat after several days out in the woods. Often it's fridge cold and under outside with a freeze in the nights so no problem. When its warmer you just bring it frozen. If its under 10 C outside it takes at least a day for it to thaw and then you can wait one more day before you cook it. I've done this for 15 years and never got sick.

Welcome to my Survival!
Snow finally gone. Have been longing for a long hike like this. Every year when the snow melt you get a sense of freedom as the snow kinda isolates you and diminish your mobility. After some rough trips sleeping on the ice in extreme cold, surviving without food and shelter etc, its very nice to go back to what I enjoy. This video is only about mood and the beauty of nature. About cooking nice food, camp craft and bushcraft techniques. I'm out there chasing imagery I like.
Thank you very much for Watching!

Welcome to my Survival!
As you might have noticed I like to aim for outings where the weather change. I love that. Going out in the moment when spring arrives like it did here gives me so much to capture with the camera. I'm a sucker for contrasts.
Finding fatwood right away instead of struggling with damp wood in a pine forest. There was some leftover snow just a few days before I went out and I know from experience that exact time is the worst time in the year for making fires. People up north don't understand this. Up there fire is always easy. Because when the woods freeze over they stay frozen. And things stay dry inside throughout the cold season. But here you have rain, snow, melt, rain, snow, melt all winter...It leaves things moist to the core and after a few months of that with up and down over the freezing point fires becomes almost impossible at times. You all know the mantra you hear... "birch bark burns when wet". Where I live that don't work all of the time. In winter here I sometimes find birch bark that will not burn right away even when thrown on open flames. It's not just only the wet it depends on the level of decay etc. It can also vary from tree to tree and from one day to another. So fatwood is the one true thing you always can depend on in all seasons and weather.
One liberating thing I experience every spring is also the first hike with a smaller sleeping bag. Clears up so much room and I have always enjoyed hiking with a smaller backpack like this. Gives more freedom. Been a while since out with the LK35 and I must say... It is a fantastic backpack.
A thing about meals you cook. I have planned ambitious meals before. Made pizzas and baked bread and made sinful cheeseburgers that make you drool... but the best 2 meals I ever had in the wild was so much simpler. You never know when they happen. First one was years ago when having the canoe as a canopy over my Lavvu out on a mire. Some simple fries fried in

Welcome to my Survival!
Out in snow and ice for some hiking and bushcraft. Been waiting for cold enough weather to try this idea of a long fire. A bit hard to get going but got there eventually. It was so warm I had to move back a bit. First time ever I opened up the sleeping bag in 20 below because I was too hot. Second night I slept out on the ice. Flat ground is heaven for me in this area but when the wind picked up at 5 am I had to get going. It was too cold.
I present my sleep system in this video. Other than that I have a Norwegian mountain pack, biltema pot, ACME cold handle pan, Hultafors Åby axe, Mora Garberg knife, Trangia triangle, Trangia lantern no 83, Lundhags boots, Fjällräven anorak, Hestra work gloves, aklima liners, Bahco sawblade for my bucksaw, light my fire army 2.0 fire steel. Note that the reflective windscreen cover needs to be placed on top of the sleeping pad, directly under the sleeping bag. When I set up the sleep system it looks like I placed it under the sleeping pad. It was just temporary because the wind tried to blow it away when I shot the scene.

Welcome to my Survival!
3 days bushcraft trip out with my canoe again. A bit dull weather but I try to enjoy every second without mosquitoes and tics. Some shelter craft for you this time. Worked like a charm. This setup would be great for staying longer at one location. Sometimes I think about making a video staying in one spot longer, like a basecamp...but Im too restless. Got to keep moving.
Second day I noticed my camera only records audio in the second channel after the plug got hit. First channel peak meter no signal. I seem to recall both channels having signal usually. I half expected to only have audio in one ear with my headphones in edit. But after loading up my files in the computer it seems ok and It sounds normal. I don't know much about audio so if this is your field I would appreciate some feedback.
Thank you so much for watching and see you next time!
