Marcy
Age/DOB-2 years old (6/7/2021)
Breed (best guess)- Shar-Pei/ Beagle
S*x- Female
Weight- 41lbs

Hi everyone, I’m Marcy! I am the sweetest, softest squish face around (or so I’ve heard). I am a pretty chill girl who loves being outside, sitting back and taking in all the scenery. If I’m not outside I enjoy playing with my tennis balls 🎾 (they’re one of my favorite toys!), or chewing on my bones. I like to show my love and appreciation with kisses! So be prepared for some smooches! I am great with other dogs of all sizes and great with kids. I just love everyone and everything and am such a happy girl!
I am doing amazing at potty training. I have not had any accidents in my foster home. I enjoy crate time and don’t make a peep! Sometimes I go in my crate just to take a nap. Because I love the outdoors a fenced in area or yard would probably be best for me.

**If you would like to meet Marcy and are already approved, please private message our page. If you haven’t applied yet, you can apply at awesomepawsrescue.org (61)

Please make sure if you have a deep chested dog, you make any attempt to prevent bloat.

We've always dreaded it may strike, and late last night bloat hit Otto. It's a terrible condition causing the stomach to fill with gas, applying pressure on other organs, and goes downhill fast if the stomach rotates constricting blood vessels & cutting off blood supply. His symptoms escalated rapidly from mild discomfort, to restless pacing, to burping / hiccuping / vomiting a white stringy foam, all with sharp pains, whimpering, & yelps😞😢 We raced our confused, suffering boy to the nearest emergency vet with a surgeon on call, which also happens to be one of the best Animal Hospitals in the country, Cornell. They whisked him away, stabilized him, and confirmed our worst fears, his stomach had bloated & twisted causing his spleen to rotate as well. Thankfully the surgeon arrived quickly and saved his life🙏 He was able to rotate his stomach and spleen back into position and tack his stomach to his abdominal wall to prevent another occurrence. While Otto certainly isn't out of the woods, we are incredibly grateful for the skill & professionalism of Cornell's emergency staff🙏❤️

As you know, Otto means a lot to us. We're desperately waiting for the call telling us we can bring him back home. He's our original, not just king of the pack, but the reason it exists. Please send some good energy to our guy. Also familiarize yourself with the symptoms of bloat if you have a large, deep-chested breed. There was a YouTube video of an Akita, that I found especially helpful in comparing Otto's symptoms which helped make my decision to rush to the ER. I will share it in the comments when I find it again...

Phoenix
3.5 year old
Heeler mix
Female (spayed)
25 lbs

Who is looking for a tiny cow ?! 🐄🐮 this spotted speckled little beauty is ready to find her forever home❤️

Phoenix is a petite girl with a low-medium energy level! She is great with dogs of all sizes🐶 Her foster recommends she goes into a home with another dog to build confidence. she loves to play or just cuddle up with you on the couch or in bed💤 She does not need to be crated when left alone but if needed she does fine in the crate. (What a good girl!) she does great going outside on a potty schedule.
Phoenix walks great on a leash and rides like a princess in the car 👑

Phoenix has not been tested with cats but her foster thinks she will be just fine with a kitty friend! She has been around kids 6+ and did fantastic! Phoenix does not seem to have all the heeler tendencies that people think, she is a very relaxed and sweet pup that is looking for someone to call her own!

Her fosters favorite thing about her is how she will swarm you with kisses at any given moment 💜

If you are interested in Phoenix, please apply at https://www.nickelcitycaninerescue.org/adopt-a-dog or message the rescue if you are already pre-approved.

🚨 Stella has been in boarding for months after her parents broke up. PLEASE we need a foster home for her!! Apply at buddysrescue.org and please share! 🚨

Stella
Pit Mix
3 years old
65 lbs
Female

Hi, My name is Stella! You may remember my story from a few months ago. I was adopted from Buddy’s years ago and then my parents went through a break up. My mommy had to move into an apartment where I was unable to stay. She was so devastated and cried having to return me. Unfortunately now I find myself having to find a new furever home! I’m such a sweet girl and LOVE everyone! I walk fantastic on a leash and know a bunch of commands. I’m house trained and do fine being left out of a crate when you aren’t home. I’m great with kids, but do too my size would do better with older ones. I do need to be the only animal in the home, but this doesn’t make me a bad girl. I just like all the attention! If you think I could be the one for you, or just want to meet me, please apply at buddysrescue.org. If you have any questions, please ask away! (1)

Precious has been with us for 278 days and sadly, those have been, to-date, the best days of her life. She gets 2 walks a day, hangs with her favorite people and goes on super fun field trips. Still, she spends 20-23 hours a day in a kennel.

Before coming to us, she lived in a basement so, while an upgrade, it's still no life. At 10 years and 2 months old and being a medium-large sized dog, we have no way of knowing what time she has left, but chances are, we can count the years on one hand. We do know one thing- we don't want her last days to be in a Shelter.

Precious is such a love with people. She tap dances when she knows it's time to go for a walk and she's a favorite on fieldtrips- she greets everyone with a smile. She's been scheduled for 19 fieldtrips, but not a single meet and greet. We think she'd be great in a home with kids (a meet would be required). The one downfall- she can't live with other dogs. That shouldn't prevent her from finding her retirement home though. Someone out there must be looking for a good ol' companion who would be thrilled to go for a walk, but wouldn't be mad if you all just cuddled on the couch instead.

Please share with your no dog having friends. Poke them, tag them or pinch them- whatever you have to do to get them in here to meet Precious. We promise once they do, they won't regret it!

Call 716-731-4368 ext 0 to meet Precious.

Precious's adoption fee is sponsored in Loving Memory of Carol Kwitowski.

As some of you may know, today I drove an hour and a 1/2 north to a horrible hoarding. Illegal German Shepherd kennel situation.

My heart hurts for each and every one of those dogs in that awful situation right now.

I can't talk too much about it as it is a fluid situation right now. But I am working with others to try to rehome as many as possible.

This is a very rural area in Pennsylvania, and resources are limited. In fact, there is not even a humane society or SPCA there.

None of the dogs are seniors. Most are 6 weeks to 1 year old, and they're currently four liters of puppies

I believe I am heading back up tomorrow to take folks who will be rescuing some of the puppies, and I may take a one year old pregnant mother who's due to give birth any day If another rescue who specializes in situations like this can't take her.

Folls, it is mind-boggling to me how any one person thinks they can take care of 50 some dogs. Especially when they themselves are physically not well, out of work, and in need of handouts, just to feed themselves.

It also sickens me how there are no stricter laws against animal cruelty and neglect such as this.

Anyway, somehow, in the midst of the chaos, I ended up holding this timid little girl pictured here with Savvy so she wouldn't get trampled on, and I couldn't put her down. The lady responsible for all of this mess asked me if I wanted her, and said that I'd be doing her a favor if I took her, so I decided to bring her home with me.

Me. The queen of old dogs now with a three month old puppy in her care. 😁 and she is staying, because I think it would be nice to have a youngster running around here for a change.

This little girl, along with all the other puppies, are covered in urine, f***s, and filth, and I didn't have it in my heart to let her go, and vowed to find placement for as many of the other dogs as I can, but right now i'm exhausted physically and emotionally.

And so is the puppy.
Tomorrow is going to be another long day, so I won't be on social media.
