As some of you may know, today I drove an hour and a 1/2 north to a horrible hoarding. Illegal German Shepherd kennel situation.
My heart hurts for each and every one of those dogs in that awful situation right now.
I can't talk too much about it as it is a fluid situation right now. But I am working with others to try to rehome as many as possible.
This is a very rural area in Pennsylvania, and resources are limited. In fact, there is not even a humane society or SPCA there.
None of the dogs are seniors. Most are 6 weeks to 1 year old, and they're currently four liters of puppies
I believe I am heading back up tomorrow to take folks who will be rescuing some of the puppies, and I may take a one year old pregnant mother who's due to give birth any day If another rescue who specializes in situations like this can't take her.
Folls, it is mind-boggling to me how any one person thinks they can take care of 50 some dogs. Especially when they themselves are physically not well, out of work, and in need of handouts, just to feed themselves.
It also sickens me how there are no stricter laws against animal cruelty and neglect such as this.
Anyway, somehow, in the midst of the chaos, I ended up holding this timid little girl pictured here with Savvy so she wouldn't get trampled on, and I couldn't put her down. The lady responsible for all of this mess asked me if I wanted her, and said that I'd be doing her a favor if I took her, so I decided to bring her home with me.
Me. The queen of old dogs now with a three month old puppy in her care. 😁 and she is staying, because I think it would be nice to have a youngster running around here for a change.
This little girl, along with all the other puppies, are covered in urine, f***s, and filth, and I didn't have it in my heart to let her go, and vowed to find placement for as many of the other dogs as I can, but right now i'm exhausted physically and emotionally.
And so is the puppy.
Tomorrow is going to be another long day, so I won't be on social media.
