"To Be Young, Gifted, and Black" will be the Ritz Theatre and Museum's Black History Month salute to the humble beginnings of today's legends. From the Jackson 5 to Gladys Knight, Debarge, and Whitney Houston, we'll stroll down memory lane and revisit the humble beginnings of these superstars. This tribute will feature Jacksonville vocalists between the ages of 10 (one 9-year-old!) and 21 and is open to singers of any nationality!

We know that Black history is American history, and so we proudly celebrate the events and achievements of African Americans who have contributed so mightily to the history of this country. We're beginning the celebration with a contemporay rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing, performed by Al Green, Deniece Williams, Patti Austin, Roberta Flack, Melba Moore, and Deb McDuffie. Welcome to Deb McDuffie "Musician/Author" page. This page will replace the "Reign of the Jingle Queen" memoirs page, which is going away. The multi-media books' narrative is finished, and we are now in process of adding the different multi-media files. This is a process and will take a few months to complete.
