ROGERS tv New Brunswick Rogers believes in "Local Matters" programming television that brings communities together. Rogers TV stations produce more local TV than any broadcaster.

Since 1969, Rogers has invested in the creation and ongoing development of Rogers TV a unique community television service available exclusively to Rogers' cable customers, as part of the basic cable service. In 2012, our stations produced 17,000 hours of informative local programming involving over 25,000 community groups, underlining our commitment to our communities and to the objectives of the

Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission’s policy for community-based media. Each one of our 39 Rogers TV stations operating in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland is an active and involved member of its local city or town, providing timely and relevant programs about local matters. Rogers TV trains thousands of volunteers, who work side by side with professional television producers to bring unique, community programming to your cable viewing choices: issues that matter, sports that count, entertainment that brightens your day and information you can rely on. Every day, Rogers' professional staff and dedicated volunteers are on location to provide television coverage of the local sporting, cultural, political and human events that make up the very fabric of your community. Our programming celebrates your life, as you live it. And the most effective way to bring you a true reflection of the people, places and issues that matter most to you is by involving you in the programming seen on our stations. To this end, Rogers TV invites you to submit ideas for TV shows, whether they be for a new how-to series, a talk show or coverage of an upcoming event in your neighborhood. It’s easy: simply fill out and send us a Program Proposal Form. Rogers Communications is Canada's largest provider of wireless voice and data communications services and one of Canada's leading providers of cable television, high-speed Internet and telephony services. Rogers TV is only available to Rogers’ customers, including the company's 2.3 million cable customers in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.

NBEMO is tracking hurricane Lee.
There are three important components to emergency preparedness:
• Know the risks: New Brunswickers should evaluate the kind of emergency that can affect their family and their community. Knowing the risks can help them better prepare for any disaster: storms, flooding, train derailments, power outages or other events.
• Make a plan: Every household needs an emergency plan. It will help families to know what to do in case of an emergency and it takes less than 30 minutes to organize. Family members should take the time to discuss how and where to meet, how to contact each another and what to do in different situations. Write it down and keep it in a safe place.
• Get an emergency kit: New Brunswickers should have all the necessities for themselves and their families: water, food, flashlights, radio, batteries, first aid kit, prescription medications, infant formula, cash (ATM machines might not be operational in times of crisis).

UPDATE: Shelter in place recommendation lifted across Saint City of Saint John

The SJ-EMO, on the advice of the Regional Medical Officer of Health, has lifted the shelter-in-place recommendation across Saint John.

The fire is contained, and emergency personnel will remain on scene at the AIM facility throughout the day to deal with any localized smoldering hot spots.

Public Health still recommends that anyone who can see and smell smoke take any necessary precautions, including wearing a mask.

Updates will be provided as available, through the City of Saint John’s website at www.saintjohn.ca and Facebook and Twitter accounts.

⚠️UPDATE: Shelter in place order expanded to include all Saint John due to concerns over air quality from fire at AIM facility

The SJ-EMO, on the advice of the Regional Medical Officer of Health, has expanded the current shelter-in-place order to include all residents of Saint John due to the fire at the AIM recycling facility. As a result of the industrial nature of the outdoor fire, air quality has been affected.

Public Health also strongly recommends that anyone who can see and smell smoke in neighbouring communities should shelter in place, until the fire is brought under control.

Residents are asked to remain in their homes, if possible. Closing all windows and doors is recommended as well as turning off HVAC systems.

It is recommended that if you are in an area where you smell smoke, you limit your time outside. Should you need to be outside, limit your time outdoors as much as possible. Wearing a well-fitted respirator mask, like an N95 and not a surgical mask, can help to reduce exposure to fine particles, but may not protect against other contaminants.

Emergency personnel have remained onsite since early this morning to contain the fire.

According to Dr. Rita Gad, Regional Medical Officer of Health, people can be affected by poor air quality and experience coughing, throat irritation, headaches, or shortness of breath. Children, seniors and people with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are particularly at risk. People experiencing difficulty breathing or chest discomfort should consult their physician or contact Tele-Care 811. People in severe distress should always call 911 immediately.

Storms happen. With them come rain, wind, snow, lightning and sometimes power outages. While most power outages don't last long, every household should have an emergency plan, just in case.

13/09/2023

Be prepared and stay informed as hurricane Lee could impact the province this weekend. Get ready in advance of potential high winds and rain by:
- Preparing for the risk of localized flooding, power outages, and storm surges.
- Preparing your property by trimming trees, securing loose items, and clearing gutters and storm drains
- Putting together a 72 hour preparedness kit that allows you to meet your needs and the needs of your family for at least three days.
For up-to-date information, visit gnb.ca/emo or follow the NBEMO Facebook and Twitter accounts. Remember to stay alert, stay informed, and stay safe.
