HAPPY MOTHRA'S DAY!
The Terrible Strain, an outpost watched That Kid, and run by The Admin, is a collection of writing and imagery ... for now, anyway.

The Terrible Strain is part of an expression my late-brother (KIA Vietnam, 1971) employed, humorously, to explain the dire circumstances of our time in a poor, crumbling neighborhood that was in a lot of trouble, with parents who were seriously unwell and neighbors that now, to describe them, would appear to be fake news or a treatment for an independent TV show. The full expression, as I recall: “Look Frankie, we’re all under A Terrible Strain. You, me, the sister, Mom and Dad, the dog, the guinea pig, the cats, the neighbors next door, the neighbors up front, this town, this country, this world: We’re all under a Terrible Strain.” He laughed out loud, infectiously as he went on and on about everyone in the news, sports, entertainment industry, etc., were all under The Terrible Strain. It is one of my best memories of him and there are many others. The profile pic is of my Dad in high school, a 4-Letter Man in track and field, soccer, baseball and basketball. He was drafted into WWII and served on the frontlines during the Battle of the Bulge and a brutal follow-up campaign that changed him permanently and not for the good. It is a darkly comic thing, this page and if it doesn’t suit your fancy, totally understood. It is random and some times plain weird. Thanks for stopping by.
