It’s official, 4 weeks today & I am back in Edinburgh, working at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo: for my sixth year!

I have been counting down the weeks since I came back last September & I cannot wait to see all my friends & Tattoo family.

I am aware of many pretentious whisky drinkers, actually many are friends, but I am an advocate for affordable, accessible whisky & it seems Aldi have continued to deliver.

At £18.49 for a Speyside Single Malt, one should not expect a fortuitous taste sensation however, “it beat off competition from a number of big names, including Johnnie Walker Black Label - despite coming in about £6 cheaper a bottle“ therefore maybe worth the try?

posted a Sexton Whisky Cocktail last week, which I thought of when I got home this evening. With a new bottle of .irl to open & appetiser in the fridge (we call them Apfelschorle in Germany) I popped it open & poured on ice with sliced lemon & ice. Mmm.. I was not impressed therefore I returned to the post & I had missed the honey & ginger: two ingredients I always have in the apartment. ⁣

ICYMI our latest instalment of the Single Cask Edition launched last week.

Finished in American Virgin Oak, this 2011 bottling is a cask strength of 54.9% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered.

Lots of fruity and floral notes on the nose and a sweetly toasted palate. Honey-glazed fruit with a dusting of spice and buttery oak establishes an indulgent base that marries with Tullibardine’s signature vanilla style.

It was 10 metres from my hotel, fortunate since I was hobbling on crutches & I even managed to descend the staircase to the cellar. ⁣
⁣
It was everything a Jazz bar should be, creative, dark & great music. The only bad news for me, the bar had run out of Jameson Black Barrel & I was craving a sweet whiskey, therefore I enjoyed Wild Turkey 101. ⁣

They had me at Cherry Bakewell - take my money!!

Something incredibly scrumptious is coming. Flavours of Cherry Bakewell, apricot marmalade and vanilla custard. Introducing Orchard Cobbler, our new limited edition whisky in our boundary pushing Huntress series.
