A week ago today, we lost our sweet little Mimi. I don't post on ig very much, and looking back i realized that 3 posts ago was my two year mimiversary, where I talked about how far she'd come health wise. Unfortunately, a few months after that post her health really started to decline, in too many ways to mention at once. I had mimi for 3 years and 3 days, and the vast majority of those 3 years and 3 days was spent trying everything I could to get and keep her healthy and happy. And while healthy wasn't in the cards for us, I really do think she was a happy dog, right to the end.

Mimi loved everyone she met. People, even young kids, dogs AND cats. There seemed to be no bottom to her love reserves, everyone got kisses and cuddles. She liked playing with her toys and LOVED the sunshine. She also loved me. Getting a dog during covid and working from home as just the two of us, we grew bonded really fast. Mimi wanted to be wherever I was. She liked her toys, but only wanted to play with them if I was playing too. She'd howl the smallest little howls when I was gone, even when someone else was with her. And even when she really slowed down and slept more during the day, she'd wake up from time to time just to check and make sure I was still there, so she could go back to sleep. I was lucky enough to be there holding her at the end, so my hope is that the last thing she did was check to make sure I was there, and then went to sleep knowing I had her.

It's been a week, but I'm still processing it like it was yesterday, oscilating between anger, confusion, and sadness. Mostly I just miss her and i hope that she is basking in sunlight forever. Rest easy, Wiggles. I love you
