AKERE MARKET: "WE MUST PROTECT ALL MARKETS IN LAGOS" - SANWO-OLU
- Relief as Lagos Governor, Sanwo-Olu orders immediate action

The Executive Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday, visited site of the razed Akere market, in Araromi community of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government.

The fire incident which broke out in the early hours of Wednesday, was alleged to have involved a group of persons who torched the auto spare parts market.

It was also reported that one of the night guards was killed during the alleged operation.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu upon arrival at the scene, inspected the remains of the market that was filled with rubbles.

According to the second term seeking Lagos State governor, Sanwo-Olu, he declared that "all markets in Lagos State shall be given maximum protectection."

"I am directing our security agencies, starting with the Nigerian Police to give protection to markets in Lagos State," he said.

Mr. Sanwo-Olu also assured members of the auto spare parts market of Lagos State government's swift response over renovation of Akere auto spare parts market, as Mr. Governor instructed the council chairman, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, and management of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), to commence evacuation of rubbles and other repairs at the site.

Consoling members of the market, Mr. Sanwo-Olu added: "We are assuring you of our swift response in rebuilding the market."
