Happy due date, Alice Hildegard Erickson ♥️
8 lbs 10 oz of pure bliss.
She came into the world on Monday night— feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. And she’ll be baptized tomorrow on the anniversary of Lady of Fatima appearing in Portugal + Miracle of the Sun.
We are both doing well, and she’s such a sweet babe. While Veronica has taken some (much expected) time to adjust, the kids are quite taken with “Allie.”
I’ve had her name picked out since Alice von Hildebrand passed. Her writing on femininity, motherhood, and theology should be required reading for every mother.
St. Hildegard, a Doctor of the Church, was an incredibly talented polymath: composer, writer, mystic, and more. She has influenced the Church in a profound way despite only becoming more well-known in recent years because of her love of ecology/the environment and science. Shes a patroness of ecology, creativity, musicians, and writing.
St. Hildegard of Bingen, Ora pro nobis.
Some other fun things too: my husband’s maternal great God mother was named Alice. She was a sacrificial and generous soul who endured a lot of suffering. And my maternal Great-grandma Hildagard (how she spelled her name) was likewise a woman of deep faith and sacrifice.
