Guyana condemns Venezuela's latest attempt to escalate border dispute
In a national address last evening, Guyanese President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali criticised Maduro for failing to adhere to international law and a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) that prevents Venezuela from taking any action to control the disputed territory until the court rules on which country rightfully owns the land.
President of Guyana Dr Ifraan Ali has welcomed the unanimous ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) which issued an important Order granting the provisional measures against Venezuela that Guyana requested in response to Venezuela’s announcement that it would be holding a referendum that would endorse, among other illegal measures, Venezuela’s annexation of Guyana’s Essequibo Region.

All Out on Loop: Pres Ali pleased with GAW's performance at 2023 CPL
Guyanese President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali was among the thousands of cricket fans who attended the 2023 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) play-off match between the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) and Jamaica Tallawahs on September 22.
In an interview with Loop News, Ali expressed his optimism about GAW’s chance of winning the CPL as well as his government’s plans for sports in Guyana.
