MY EX-HUSBAND'S NEW GIRLFRIEND FOUND MY NUMBER TO ASK ME JUST ONE QUESTION

So, a bit of background: My ex and I were married for 13 years, have two kids, and somehow managed to stay best friends after splitting up. We co-parent like pros, even though our marriage had its ups and downs.

Yesterday was our eldest's birthday, and we all went out for a meal. My ex has been seeing this new woman for about four months. He told me right away because we're all about keeping things clear for the kids. He asked if she could come to the birthday dinner. I wasn't thrilled about not meeting her first, but I didn't want to be intrusive, so I said sure.

The new girlfriend seemed nice, friendly, and genuinely interested in getting along, which was a relief. If she's going to be around my kids, she better be a good person.

Then things got weird. My eldest handed me a card, which was odd because my birthday was months ago and usually no one remembers. I noticed the girlfriend giving me these looks and decided to mingle with other guests to avoid the awkwardness.

DOCTOR VISITS ABANDONED HOSPITAL HE USED TO WORK IN FOR NOSTALGIA AND FINDS A 14-YEAR-OLD LETTER FROM A FORMER PATIENT

He was just an ordinary retired doctor, 65 years old, and beloved by everyone in the neighborhood for his kindness, honesty, and warm smile.

He lived alone—no wife, no kids. His life had been dedicated to his work, and every attempt to start a family had fallen apart.

One day, feeling nostalgic, he decided to visit the old hospital where he had worked as an obstetrician for years. The hospital had been abandoned for 14 years, tucked away in the woods on the outskirts of town.

Walking through the empty hallways, he ran his hands along the walls, memories flooding back of his days delivering babies and comforting nervous parents.

Then, he found himself in the room where his locker used to be. The fire that closed the hospital had meant he never got a chance to grab his things. Opening the locker, he found something unexpected: a letter.

Last month my MIL, Jean, begged me to have the kids for a week during their holiday break. She promised they'd have a fun time, so I agreed.

To make it easier, I gave her $1,000 for groceries and anything else they might need so that Jean doesn't waste her savings. Jean was thrilled. She assured me that they'd be well-fed and healthy.

But when I came to pick them up a week later, expecting to see them happy with Grandma, I WAS HORRIFIED.

Diane, 62 years old, was the perfect tenant. She was quiet, didn't damage the property, and always paid her rent on time. Then one month, she came up short.

Her landlord, Chris, fanned out the money he'd taken from the envelope Diana gave him and waved it in her face. "A hundred and twenty dollars short, Mrs. Salinger."

Diane blushed. "I will pay you the $120 in two weeks..."

"Mrs. Salinger, I'm a businessman, not a charity! I want you out by the end of the week," Chris snapped.

"But Mr. Turkle..." Diane protested. "It's only for a couple of weeks, and it won't happen again!"

"It happened once, and that's enough for me, Mrs. Salinger. You're out," Chris said coldly. He turned his back and walked out.

He headed home to get ready to go to dinner at his younger sister Vanessa's house. Later, he knocked on the door, and Vanessa welcomed him with a happy smile.

NEW HOMEOWNERS DEMANDED THAT I REMOVE "MY GARBAGE" FROM THE GARAGE — A WEEK LATER, THEY CALLED, BEGGING ME TO RETURN IT.

I just sold my parents' house and went through the whole place, making sure everything was cleared out. I even had it professionally cleaned before putting it on the market, and no one had lived there since.

Two days after closing, the new owners started bombarding my realtor with calls, complaining about "my garbage" left in the garage. They'd seen it before, and it hadn't been an issue, but now they wanted to charge me for additional cleaning.

Well, even though I live two hours away and have three kids to take care of, I offered to come back and sort it out. I cleared everything out of the garage, took it with me, and left.
