After Sri Lanka and Thailand, Vietnam is likely to be the next destination to offer visa-free entry to Indians. According to local media, Vietnam Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung suggested it allow Indians and Chinese to visit without a visa for a short period. As of now, only nationals of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland can enter Vietnam without a visa.

In Numbers:

In the first 10 months of this year, Vietnam had almost 10 million visitors. This is a significant increase, about 4.6 times more than the same time last year. It’s even higher than the figure Vietnam was hoping to reach by the end of 2023.

ecently, both Thailand and Sri Lanka announced visa waivers for India. As of November 10, Thailand has eliminated the visa requirement for Indian travelers. This visa exemption permits Indian tourists to stay for 30 days and will remain in effect until May 10 of the following year. The Thai government has also indicated the potential for extending the program if there is an increase in demand.

In October, Sri Lanka also launched a program allowing visa-free entry for visitors from seven countries, such as India, China, and Russia, as part of a trial period. The pilot project will remain active until March 31, 2024.

5 TIPS TO APPLY FOR VIETNAM EVISA

V Tip 1: Apply for your evisa as soon as possible.
Preferably apply at least 2 or 3 weeks before your expected flight date, which allows you some time to correct mistakes if any.
If you have entered everything correctly on the eVisa Application Form, it usually takes 3-5 working days (excluding Sat, Sun and Public Holidays) to get your eVisa approved.

Tip 2: Apply for eVisa first BEFORE you book your flight.
You can miss your flight ticket due to the delay of your eVisa process, so to avoid this problem you should confirm your flight after your e-visa is issued.

Tip 3: Apply for the maximum allowed period which is 90 days visa. It does not need to be your actual duration of stay in Vietnam
Whether you apply for 5 days, 10 days or 30 days or 90 days the Evisa fee is the same, so you should apply for the maximum days allowed.

Tip 4: Your actual travel date must be within the eVisa validity dates.
The entry date of your eVisa does not need to be the date of your flight. It can be earlier than your actual flight date. And, you have to leave on or before the exit date on your eVisa

Tip 5: Preferably use a PC/Mac, instead of smartphone.
The eVisa application website was not developed well, so there are compatibility issues with browsers and mobile devices as well. Try different browsers if you experienced weird issues.
