Some people told me that we rarely see me in the pictures I post... So here's ME throughout 2024 πŸ˜…
1. Freshly bleached in Manila! Sometimes I let my viewers decide what I'm gonna look like. Still got mixed feelings about this look.

2. Then came the blue (the box said green). I look like a weird exotic bearded bird waiting for the damn Sinulog parade to start.

3. I'm not one to take mirror selfies, but I felt kinda sexy while waiting for the elevator.

4. During a stream, I met this cute couple on an island in the Philippines who happened to be YouTubers as well. Nice dinner and great encounter!

5. I went back to a cave I had been to in 2009 and once again jumped into this underground lake. Two words: exciting and spooky!

6. When in Tokyo, ya gotta watch your back. You're not gonna get mugged, robbed or attacked by thugs... But Godzilla might just...

7. In Aomori, a small town in the north of Japan, I took a selfie with a stranger on the boardwalk.
It was also my first time in nearly 10 years that I was facing this kind of cold weather.

8. Still in Aomori, I met these lovely ladies while waiting in line to eat at a scallop restaurant. We had an amazing scallop lunch together.

9. Osaka, baby!! So happy I went back to this lovely city. I hadn't been there since 2016. One of my favorite cities in the world.

10. Cambodia! My first time celebrating Khmer New Year in the village. So much fun. Definitely more intense than I expected.

11. Did I tell you that sometimes I let the viewers decide what I'll look like? Yeah...

12. Random selfie in Phnom Penh after the rain. I liked the lighting. (I know I look sad, but I'm not)

13. No selfies while back in my hometown... Except this one with a cute stranger at the circus fest.

14. Many issues with my s**tty motorbike in 2024. So while waiting for the mechanics, I lost my s**t!

15. Flexing my new sexy t-shirt in Phnom Penh.

16. Malaysia! I went fishing with a viewer. Great time, delicious fish and he even got me a fishing shirt!

17. Flexing our fish and my sexy calf 🦡

18. For Deepavali in Kuala Lumpur, I got the most delicious henna tattoo.

19. When your friends know what you need better than you do. πŸŽπŸŽ„

Yoo! Just in case you didn't know, I have a second channel (GLOBIK RAW) where I will start posting videos that are taken from my livestreams. From the highlights of crazy adventures to little unique moments... As long as there's an interesting story to share.
I just posted a video of my crazy New Year's Eve experience in a part of the Philippines where tourists never dare to go.

2024 was a year of rediscovery for me.
This is my year in 12 Photos (it was so hard to pick only twelve!)
1. I started the year in China. I climbed to the rooftop of my old apartment building in Shenzhen. It brought back memories.

2. I went back to Panglao Island in the Philippines. I hadn't been there since my first trip to Asia back in 2008. I love how some local people will use whatever they can get their hands on to be able to play basketball.

3. My first time back in Japan since 2016. But this time, I went to a strange little coastal town in the North called Aomori.

4. Back in Cambodia, I slowed my pace down and just followed the flow of the village and the weather.

5. For Visak Bochea Day, I went to a temple in the village that I hadn't been to in quite a while. I had never seen it this packed.

6. The landscape of the village where I lived is quite flat, so I tend to look at the sky more often. Somehow the Cambodian sky is always interesting.

7. Back in my hometown, I rediscovered the local fauna... Those lovely bushy tailed rats!

8. Back in Cambodia... I rode around the countryside to appreciate its beauty one more time before moving to the city.

9. Phnom Penh... New landscapes, new rhythms, new challenges.

10. I got the opportunity to go back to Malaysia for the first time in nearly 3 years. I have to admit, I really missed beautiful Kuala Lumpur.

11. During my trip to Malaysia, I thought I'd go back to Penang Island. Last time I was there was in 2016. I remembered liking the style and the vibes of Georgetown. I mostly remembered the food lol. This time, I wondered in different little corners and somehow this little corner reminded me of Japan.

12. I ended back where I started the year: in Shenzhen. This time, I went back to Dafen, the artist village to see what it looks like these days. It changed a bit, but it's still lively, colorful and really inspiring.

It's been a strange year for me, but looking back at all my pictures reminded me how blessed I am to have all these experiences and adventures.
I'm already pumped for what's coming this year.

Being back in China...
It reminded me that I went to Xiamen around this time last year.
It's a cute and peaceful coastal city. It seems like a popular destination for Chinese people living in the south.
I might have been in the wrong part of town, but I felt like everyone went to sleep at around 11PM. The streets become so empty and quiet. I still like it.
I always end up in weird little back alleys and corners in the middle of the night anyways.

Oh Penang!
I enjoyed my time in Kuala Lumpur so much that I only had a couple of days left to spend in Penang.
A beautiful tiny island where different cultures, religions, architectures and cuisines coexist beautifully.
So many textures! From the colorful temples and the cute little houses to the old walls eaten by time and weather and the sketchy yet charming back alleys.
I'm not a big fan of very touristic places, but I could still spend days or even weeks there just wandering through the streets and alleys... And stuffing my face of course 🀀

Probably the most tattered yet beautiful restaurant I've ever seen. Chinese-Italian?
I was randomly exploring the little back alleys of Ipoh, a mall town in Malaysia when I came across this place.
I spotted one of the little dining rooms from the alley and it caught my eye right away. I had to take a closer look.
I was politely greeted by an employee who asked me if I was dining in. It's only at then that I realized that it really was a restaurant.
I told him that I thought the place looked very interesting and I asked him if I could just take a look around.
An instant Crush! (For the place, not the staff lol)
They fully embraced the decrepit state of the building and designed the different spaces around that theme. Some old Cantonese music was playing softly. Quite a unique atmosphere.
Even the bathroom had a little something.
And although the style was inspired by "Old China", the menu was fully Italian. They had a proper pizza oven and, based on the pictures and the descriptions of the different meals, the recipes seemed quite authentic (not Italian with an Asian twist as you will commonly find in this part of the world).
Unfortunately, I was already full and short on time... But I definitely plan on going back and having a feast in this unexpected hidden gem.

Ipoh is a strange little town.
After the busy and lively vibes of Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh almost felt like a ghost town. This little Malaysian town located about 200km north of KL seemed like it had better days.
Based on the local attraction and some "tourist trap" streets, I feel like it might have been a touristic town at some point. Maybe it was a weekend getaway spot for KL people. Or maybe I just went there at the quiet time of the year... It's the rain season after all.

Either way, it was a little bit gloomy... But in a charming way. From the faded colorful paint and decorations to buildings getting claimed back by nature, it just perfectly matched the grey and rainy weather.
I don't think I'd see myself living there (I always ask myself this question whenever I visit a new place), but I would definitely go back and take some time to explore a bit more as well as checking out the nearby mountains, rivers and caves.
I also had one of the best meals I've had in Malaysia. Steamed chicken with bean sprouts. Something very simple and light in a country full of strong flavors and spices... And no, it wasn't at "The Best" restaurant 🀣

During my recent trip to Malaysia, I spent a lot of time in Kuala Lumpur. I truly love this city!
But this time, I rented an apartment in a residential area away from the center.
And, behind the last station of the LRT line, tucked in a weird bushy abandoned-looking area, I noticed this colorful Hindu temple (I believe).

At first, the scaffolding made me think that they were probably renovating it or repainting it.
But once inside, it looked like it had been abandoned for quite a while. It also seems like there are some squatters living there and using the beautiful sculptures as drying racks for their laundry.

I'm not really sure what is happening with this temple, but the place felt like a post apocalyptic scene.
Eerie but beautiful at the same time.

Why not one more?
After checking out the old ruins of Ta Prohm, I got hungry and the sun was already down.
I had two options:
1. Riding back to the city at night.
2. Spending the night there and riding to Chisor Mountain the next day.
Chat on my livestream voted for the latter (catch my adventures in real time --> GlobikLive on Twitch).
So I spent the night in a nasty love hotel room that had no windows yet was filled with mosquitoes.
I spent most of the night killing suckers and finally passed out all dressed up because... the bed 😨

The next day I got on the road.
I followed Google maps directions and ended up on a muddy trail. At some point, I arrived at what looked like abandoned temple ruins. This is where Google was like "You're almost there. Now get off your bike and walk from here!"
I could see the temple from down there and I could hear some announcements or prayers being shouted out of speakers. But strangely, there was nobody where I was. Not even a single parked motorbike in sight.
Well I'm here, so might as well find a way, right?
I got off my bike and started walking around the ruins hoping to find some kind of trail that would lead me up there. On the other side of the ruins, I found a path, some very wide stairs made of old stones.
The stairs seemed to lead straight to the top. But strangely, the steps were all covered with grass, w**d and small bushes as if that path hadn't been used in ages.
I was already committed, so I started climbing anyway.
The further I was going, the higher each step was. The last 30 steps were almost like rock climbing. Not to mention that most steps were either crooked, broken or completely covered by dirt and vegetation.
A lot of people were standing at the top staring at this weird foreigner coming out of nowhere sweating his way up.
I finally made it. I was drenched. The place was super crowded.
I walked around and found the old ruins of the Chisor Mountain Temple dating from the 12th century. I also found a bunch of vendors selling snacks, souvenirs and junk. AND I found 2 parking lots!!
Apparently I had taken the ancient path to the temple that nobody uses anymore.
I took a few shots where it wasn't too packed

Pchum Ben Roadtrip
Pchum Ben is a Cambodian Buddhist holiday where people pay their respects to their deceased ancestors. One of the rituals involves going back to the pagoda in your home town to pray and bring food to the monks.
So I decided to go on a little roadtrip to see the old ruins of Ta Prohm in Takeo province which is nearly 900 years old. I also brought a bag of rice and some water bottles for the monks.
The site is beautiful and it was interesting to see people going there to pray and pay their respects.

That said the vibe was partially ruined by relentless beggars and vendors who were trying to sell me incense sticks, candles and lotus flowers.
I was happy to bring food for the monks (who asked me for money upon receiving the rice and water) and I even put some money in a donation box for the protection and maintenance of this historical site. I even bought some incense sticks (that they took back from me before I could light them up).
But getting asked 5 times by the same people on the site to give them money for food and getting head shakes and grimaces when I refused was a bit annoying.

Nonetheless it was a great day. I'm glad I visited that site.

By the way... Did you spot the cat? 😸

1 Day Euro trip?
On this Friday afternoon, I thought: "You know what? Let's switch it up a bit and let's go spend a day in Europe!!"
Why not!? You're only young, handsome, amazing, shizzled, glorious, sexy, fragrant and humble once in your life. Then it all goes to πŸ’©
So I did just that. And I must say "wow! Europe is an amazing country!" It's full of history and big birds. It's beautiful and poopless.
If I was a poet, I'd say "Europe is hella cool!"
I also learned so many things today. Like did you know that the Sidney Opera House is in Europe? Me neither! Sick, right?
And nothing says you're in Europe like a bouquet of plastic flowers in a Budweiser bottle to decorate a public bathroom.
Yeah. Europe kicks ass! I might go back next week.

I was on my way to the rice paddies to shoot parts of a video when I noticed that I had a flat tire😫
I went to my usual mechanics shop and, almost as soon as he was done changing the tube, rain started to pour heavily.
So to kill time, I started messing around with my phone's camera features like slow motion just to see if they were any good.
Then the young mechanic asked me to take pictures of him and started striking poses πŸ’ͺ
Now I was having fun and I was feeling inspired, so I tried to get the boss involved. I tried so many times to convince her to pose with some tools, but she just wouldn't...
SO I STARTED LOSING MY COOL!! 😑

Just got back home.
Went on a little bike ride along the riverside and came across this strange but cute little shrine built on pillars.
The water levels of the river can drastically change during the rain season and might sometimes flood the surroundings. All the houses are built on pillars around here. It was just the first time that I noticed this little shrine.
It's most likely a Vietnamese shrine based on its shape, the Chinese characters and the look of the Buddha. It's also located near where the Vietnamese floating village used to be.

PS: I take a lot of pictures here and there and, for some reason, I rarely end up posting them. It's as if I'm waiting for a better moment to post them, but then I just don't. Or maybe I feel like they're not good enough... I don't know...
Would you be interested in seeing more random pictures like these?

Until recently, we only had a 2 hour window where we could play ball at the village stadium. Before 4 PM, it's way too hot to play under the sun. During this dry season, the temperature went up to 43Β°C in the afternoon and there's not a tiny bit of shade anywhere on or around the court.
And around 6:00 to 6:30 PM, the sun goes down and we couldn't see clearly enough to play... Even on a full moon night like this one.
But recently, some generous sponsors came through and installed some solar powered LED panels around the court to extend our playtime.
Strangely enough, all the guys at the court still choose to go home when the sun goes down. I'm the only one who sticks around to shoot the ball in the evening.

Through back Tuesday (I'm making it a thing ) photo dump.
Back in December, I had the chance to go back to Shenzhen China for the first time since I left after living there for a year back in 2019.
It was a great trip. I got to hang out and celebrate Christmas with friends I hadn't seen in years. I also spent some time exploring parts of the city I didn't know too much as well as visiting the old neighborhood I used to live in. I even managed to climb on the roof of the building I used to live in.
I also got to celebrate the arrival of 2024 with a good friend and with chat.
It was a blast! I hope I'll have the chance to go back again later this year.

This is Batman!
A few months ago I came across 3 little kittens at the new gas station just outside of the village where I live. They seemed abandoned and looked hungry, so I bought them a can of tuna. They devoured that tuna in a few minutes.
I went back a few weeks later and could only find two of them. One was missing. I fed them another can of tuna. And while they were wolfing it down, I baptized them Tuna Head (because he kept getting in the way while I was trying to get the fish out of the can and ended up pouring some tuna juice on his head πŸ˜‚) and Batman because of the black mask pattern.

A few days ago, after traveling out of the country for about two months, I went back and only found Batman. Tuna Head was nowhere to be found.
I don't know what happened to Tuna Head and the other sibling. Did they leave to explore the wilderness on their own? Did they get picked and adopted by people? Did they starve to death? Did they get hit by motorbikes or cars? I hope it's not one of the last two possibilities.
I fed Batman a whole can of Tuna. She couldn't finish it. She started following me around and talking to me non-stop. She wanted attention and affection. I talked to her for a while and petted her. She wouldn't let me go. Eventually she laid down between my feet and slowly fell asleep. That was my opportunity to tiptoe and abandon her πŸ˜₯.
I wish I could take Batman in, but I'm rarely home and I'm allergic to cats.
I don't know what will happen to Batman. I hope someone nice will take her in because she's such a sweet fur ball.

Ah! and yeah... I found out that Batman is a femaleπŸ˜…... It doesn't matter, she's still Batman.
