Massive landslides have hit Mimosa Pass in Lam D**g Province, collapsing a section of roadway and halting traffic in both directions. Roads across Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, and Gia Lai provinces are also cut off, and the North–South railway is blocked. Tuy Hoa Airport suspended operations until midnight Thursday.

The natural disasters in the Central provinces have resulted in 50 people dead or missing. A total of 167 houses and over 130,000 hectares of rice, crops and vegetables have been damaged. 30 locations along national highways are still submerged, causing severe traffic disruption. Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung called for urgent, strengthened measures to support and protect residents in flood-affected regions, stressed the need to maintain on-site forces and equipment to ensure absolute safety for all affected residents.

Residents in Dak Lak are battling the worst flooding seen in decades, with rising waters and power outages forcing them to rely on emergency support. In some areas of the city, deep flooding has completely isolated several neighbourhoods.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held an emergency online meeting on 20 November to direct urgent response measures. He issued five emergency directives and ordered more emergency rations, drone delivery, fast power restoration and shelter for displaced families. The Prime Minister reaffirmed that the top priority is minimising loss of life and rescuing people.

As the year-end peak season begins, the “Pearl Island” Phu Quoc is seeing a surge in international visitors. In the first nine months of 2025, arrivals exceeded 1.2 million, up 65.8 per cent year-on-year and surpassing the annual target by 2.1 per cent. The tourism sector expects the year-end and 2025-2026 winter season to continue booming, with returning visitors from Russia and the CIS, and new waves from the Middle East, South Korea, and India.

Rescue efforts are also going strong in Dak Lak province. Border guard and police forces have been working without rest, wading through deep water to evacuate residents, protect property, and ensure the safety of even the most vulnerable, including newborns and expectant mothers.

During an inspection of severe flooding along the Cai River in Khanh Hoa, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung directed authorities to urgently evacuate residents in high-risk areas.

Heavy rains since 17 November have caused severe flooding on several sections of the railway in South-Central Vietnam. The company is mobilising manpower and equipment to restore the line as soon as floodwaters recede.
