In this video, I reflect on 2024 and the success I had on the water. 2024 was probably one of my more successful years on the water where I was able to land so many big fish, and grow as an angler. I created this video to show what I felt like is my top 5 fish catches in 2024. These are catches that have crazy bites, crazy topwater blowups, and a lot of meaning to my success in 2024.

Instead of talking about things you should buy in the upcoming holiday season, I'm diving into my boat, into my tackle boxes, and showing you the lures I ACTUALLY fish with. My goal this winter was to change how I stored my soft plastics in my boat because it seemed like it was an unorganized disaster before. I decided to give the Quik qubes a try and landed on the breeze series just because waterproof storage wasn’t necessary for soft plastics. I’m so excited with how this turned out and how much more organized the boat is! The amount of tackle that my boat is able to store is insane when organized!

Rod and Reel Arsenal Update: New combo
Rod: Custom Lite 7’4” Medium Extra Fast Spinning Rod
Reel: Hypermag 6.2:1 Gear Ratio Spinning Reel
Line: 20 Pound Hi-Vis Braid to basix 10 pound fluorocarbon leader
Technique: Strolling, Shakey Head, Tube Jig
At the beginning of 2024 I used a completely different combo for strolling until I broke the rod. To replace that rod I decided to pick up a rod from one of my favorite rod lines from , the custom lite line. I used this rod paired with my American Hero spinning reel for the majority of 2024 and caught tons of fish on it. Recently I picked up the hypermag reel to push this combo over the top. It is high end, super light weight and incredibly smooth and sensitive.

Rod and Reel Arsenal Update: New combo
Rod: x Mach Smash 7’ Medium Fast Spinning Rod
Reel: x Mach Smash 6.2:1 Gear Ratio Spinning Reel
Line: 20 Pound Hi-Vis Braid to basix 10 pound fluorocarbon leader
Technique: Dropshot, All Purpose
This combo looks familiar because I already have one of these exact combos. I decided to pick up another one because it is by far my favorite dropshot combo. This combo will be used as a second Dropshot combo along with an all purpose combo to be used for just whatever is needed to put fish in the boat.

Rod and Reel Arsenal Update: New Rod
Rod: Laser SG1 7’ Medium Fast Spinning Rod
Techniques: All Purpose Spinning, Ned Rig, Neko Rig, Wacky Rig, Shakey Head
The majority of the changes you’re going to see was to my spinning aresenal. Heading into 2024 I basically had 2 spinning rods that I used often. Going into 2025 that number has increased to 5. This is the first change. I picked this rod up a few days ago at as a cheap all purpose spinning rod to pair up to my American hero reel. This is going to be used as an all purpose combo to fill whatever need for the body of water that I’m fishing.

Rod and Reel Arsenal Update: New Rod
Rod: x Mach 2 7’4” Heavy Fast Action
Technique: Punching, Flipping, Pitching
A few days ago I was shopping at and found this Mach 2 rod on clearance and couldn’t pass up the deal! I had plans of picking up another heavy action rod for fishing in areas of heavy grass and cover as well so it was hard to pass this rod up for under $75. Since picking this rod up I have paired it with a reel I already had on a combo I wasn’t satisfied with as that reel would fit the techniques I intend to fish on this rod better. The reel is a Custom with an 8.3:1 gear ratio and is spooled with 50 pound braid.

Rod and Reel Arsenal Update: New Bladed Jig Rod
Rod: Signature Series Bladed Jig Rod 7’3” MH Fast Action
Reel: LFS 7.5:1 gear ratio
Line: invizx 17 pound fluorocarbon
Technique: Bladed Jigs
This was a tough one for me to swallow because I loved the rod I was using for bladed jigs. I ended up breaking a guide on my Hank Parker Signature Speed Stick rod that I was using for bladed jigs towards the end of October and after they were redesigned I couldn’t find a model that matched the action that I liked so much with the previous one. This led me to picking up this Lew’s signature series rod. The signature series from Lew’s is one that I love. Bladed jigs are one of my favorite techniques so I decided to spend the coin and take a serious step up on my bladed jig rod.
