[Update: Sold on 12/10/24]

This is an antique solid oak display cabinet built by Rockford Co-op Furniture Company between 1879-1900. It has the original wavy glass. Glassmakers in the 18th and 19th centuries blew glass using a single tube, which created the wavy pattern and bubbles called “seeds”.

When we purchased it, it had a sticker on it that said, “Needs some work” and they weren’t lying. It had a 2” wide gap all the way down the right panel, both door latches wouldn’t work, the top wasn’t secure to the body, the left side wasn’t secured to the base, it was missing all of the shelves on the left side, and the glass wasn’t secure in the doors. All of this led to it being a wobbly mess and a project no one wanted to tackle.

Until we found it ◡̈

We disassembled the right side and joined the crack panel, patching and blending it together. All structural repairs were made and reinforced so that it is solid and stable. New shelves were cut and rounded for the left cabinet. New aged brass latches were installed that are a replica of the originals so that the doors latch and hold securely in place. The piece was stained and sealed in this gorgeous honey brown oak finish.

Shelves on left side are adjustable using a sawtooth notch system. The shelves on the right side are stationary and cannot be adjusted.

Notes: there is a small hairline crack in the glass in the top left corner of right cabinet [pictured]. It cannot be seen from the front and does not affect it structurally or aesthetically. There is also a vertical crack in the wood panel on the right side. It has been patched and blended, but may be slightly noticeable. Reminder: it’s 124-145 years old ◡̈ People were still using covered wagons and horses back then. This piece has lived a long life!

This stunning 170 year old chest is now posted online on our E T S Y !!

Thinking about how this chest likely got here on someone’s covered wagon, pulled by horses, pre-electricity, pre-civil war, etc, is incredible to think about. It’s easy to forget when they look this good after restoration 😍

This enchanting chest may be purchased locally for 1200 and that includes free delivery within 30 miles of Yukon.

This is such a quaint and whimsical chest of drawers; fit for a princess.

It is a true antique, built from solid walnut. It was likely built in the mid-1800s, making this piece 170+ years old.

After doing this for so long, you learn what to look for to date furniture pieces, and in this one, we found a hand forged iron square head nail [pictured in comments] which is appropriate for 19th century construction. We love looking for hints that help us date our pieces, so this was a fun discovery!

An adorable set of accessory drawers sit on top of 3 larger drawers to easily separate and organize your belongings. They would have been traditionally used for gloves and handkerchiefs, but now they’re just cute, shallow drawers for whatever you’d like!

When we acquired this piece, it had been previously refinished, and that lacquer finish was badly failing. We knew it wasn’t the original finish because lacquer was not a medium that was used during that era, the color was not correct for the time period, nor was it a proper finish for walnut. We had our work cut out for us to bring this back to a historically accurate piece of furniture.

We stripped and sanded the entire piece; opting for this timeless color using pigmented dyes and toners. It is sealed and protected by using shellac; the correct finishing product for the time period.

The dovetail joints are in great condition. The drawers were repaired and slide in and out easily. Stops were added where they were missing, so that the drawers don’t go too far in.

We lined them with this adorable floral and butterfly wallpaper for a darling hidden detail. New wood k***s were installed that are proper for this style of furniture.

It’s important for us to keep things as original as we can, or source things that fit the aesthetic correctly in our restorations.

Neat piece for a bedroom but also out of the box areas of your home to add compact storage and a beautiful focal point.

Sooo many neat pieces in the shop at the moment! This one was recently picked and was built by Rockford Co-Operative Furniture between 1879-1900. It needs A LOT of work, but don’t they all (yes I have the other door…both with original wavy glass!). Seeing a century of other craftsmen’s work with what they had on hand is always neat!

* peeking in the back is another recent pick. A ridiculously stunning Eastlake cabinet that’s over 7’ tall 🤤

[SOLD 12/02/24]

This is an antique, serpentine front, Victorian accent dresser with a marble top. Based on the hand cut dovetail joints, craftsmanship, and nails throughout; we believe this piece to have been built in the mid-to-late 1800s.

It needed quite a bit of work as it was missing large chunks of wood on the drawers and sides, it had a broken k**b, almost every drawer needed work, and the internal structure needed to be reinforced by replacing missing glue blocks and wood drawer glides. However, we have made every single repair to ensure that this is a sturdy, stable, and functional piece of furniture.

The original finish was sealed using shellac before hand painting it using milk paint; a historically accurate method of painting furniture in the 1800s. We do not use big box store “milk paint” [which is not authentic milk paint]; but instead mix our own. Milk paint is naturally based, using simple ingredients such as milk proteins, lime, and natural pigments. It comes in powdered form and must be mixed and applied immediately. It’s mostly unpredictable, leading to this chippy and distressed finish that looks genuinely aged. It’s one of our most favorite mediums to use! This warm tone of gray complements the marble top beautifully.

It was then sealed using a mixture of tung, h**p, and boiled linseed oils.

Every decision during this refinishing process has been true to what would have been done 160+ years ago.

The drawers were lined using this stunning neutral wallpaper with florals and butterflies for a whimsical touch.

*Marble naturally ages and develops patina over time. This adds to the organic feel of natural stone. Despite color variation that is a naturally occurring characteristic of real marble stone, there are no cracks, and it is in good condition. There are two small pea sized holes in the top, near the back, where something would have been mounted in the past. Please carefully examine photos and video to determine if this piece is right for you.

This is a very old and very special piece.

Well that was quick! We listed this beauty on Etsy a week ago, and it sold this afternoon. It’s going to be traveling all the way to California for someone’s incredible Christmas gift 🎄

Five years ago, we would have never seen our little business gain the following that it has. We knew we had a little spark of something special but could have never imagined this amount of growth in such a small amount of time. Opening an Etsy shop was a wild card. We did it anyway, despite our fears of our listings never being seen amongst the many talented furniture artists there.

This is an antique library table, built from solid oak. It has beautiful hand turned legs and a single drawer with original wood k***s. For fun, we lined it with premium floral wallpaper.

It’s a great medium sized desk to allow for versatility in most spaces. It is also refinished 360°, so it may sit in the center of a room or up against a wall and look great from all angles!

We stripped the existing finish off as it was old and failing. Then we applied a rich, dark brown dye-stain. It has three coats of shellac for added protection. Beautiful coloring with just the right amount of patina to make it interesting.

It is very well made; strong and stable. The drawer slides properly without rubbing or sticking and sits flush as it should. We make all necessary repairs for functionality so you will receive an item that is ready to be used.

Great for primitive, european, tudor, french country, and farmhouse styles.

A beautifully restored walnut French Provincial 9-drawer dresser. This one was built by Drexel from the “Trouville Collection” circa 1950. The original brass hardware looks stunning against this honey brown finish.

We stripped it of its dated orange lacquer finish. Why did anyone ever think that color was going to last?! We much prefer warm, neutral, and natural tones 😍

We opted for a light stain by General Finishes followed by two coats of a hardwax oil for protection. We like using various finishing methods, especially using oils on walnut, as it enhances the grain patterns and natural feel.

All repairs were completed so that the drawers slide in and out effortlessly. No sticking or rubbing. They sit flush as they should, without tipping back into the shell, and they don’t slide too far left or right. We know how to fix and install drawer tracks, repair drawer slides, and add drawer stops. Our pieces are ready to be used!

For fun, we decided to put wallpaper inside the drawers to line them. The original jewelry holder is still in the top left drawer, however, it is removable if desired.

A classic black 12-drawer French Provincial dresser. This one is built by Permacraft Furniture out of Sanford, NC. They were known for their superb build quality during the mid-century. It is constructed using cherry wood and is very solid and stable.

This vintage piece was properly cleaned and prepped before spraying a black tinted primer. Then two coats of a jet black satin urethane were sprayed using a top of the line paint sprayer. This is to ensure a smooth, clean finish. No drips or weird textures.

No distressing on this piece for a sleek, modern, and timeless look that ties into many decor styles.

For the top, we stripped, scraped, and sanded off its original finish before applying a chocolate brown pigmented dye-stain. It has been sealed with multiple coats of poly for added protection.

The drawers were repaired so that they slide easily without rubbing or sticking. The sit flush as they should without tipping backwards into the shell. All drawers were thoroughly cleaned and then re-hydrated using a lemon scented furniture salve.
