Quincy Jones, the 28-time Grammy-winning producer, has died at 91. Jones’ publicist, Arnold Robinson, says he died Sunday night at his home in the Bel Air.
Jones has worked with both Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra. He leaves behind 7 children, one of which is actress Rashida Jones (Parks & Rec)

Yesterday we got to see Joker Folie à Deux as an early press screening.
Spoiler free review:

The runtime for Joker (2) is 2 hours and 19 minutes. Without having exact numbers, it feels like more than half this movie was filled with jazz standard musical numbers. While the music was done well and had a certain charm, it did inhibit the film by taking up too much time.
The story follows Arthur Fleck 2 years after the murders of the first film. He is awaiting trial and meets a fellow patient of Arkham Asylum, Harley Quinzel. The two fall in love and chaos ensues.
Harley isn’t all that she seems. Joker (Arthur Fleck) is more committed to being Joker than the previous film. There is a good amount of times we actually laughed out loud and enjoyed much of the dark humor and subtle expressions and responses of Joker himself.

The issue is with the film’s ending…
The whole momentum takes a turn at the end. Then another surprise, then another surprise, then a twist that is by all means pretty creative but bittersweet.
It has been 24 hours and we are still not sure if we liked or disliked the ending. It does feel like it landed flat, and this was a lost opportunity.

Great cast, great acting, beautiful filmography….just that damn ending.
