The Cherokee Coalition for Responsible Growth (CCRG) is made up of individual county residents seeking to preserve the great quality of life we enjoy here. We support reasonable levels of growth and development that can be supported by roads, schools, and water. We don’t support the “anything goes” development that has consumed so much of our county in the past. Because the outcome of local electi
ons is vitally important for our future, we research all candidates running in local elections. Every candidate tells us what they want us to know about them in their campaign material; however we have found that many are less than honest in their campaign literature so we dig beneath the surface to get the facts. For instance some embellish their education accomplishments, career accomplishments and or military career accomplishments. For example; in 2010 Commissioner Derek Good claimed that he had been an Army Ranger and that he had three college degrees from three Universities. CCRG members did the research that proved none of his claims were truthful so we brought our findings to our local newspapers. We also look at their campaign contributors, if a candidate receives large sums of money from builders, developers, mortgage bankers, etc. We research candidates to ensure they are running for office to represent the best interests for all citizens, not to pursue their own hidden agenda or better their own financial status with the decisions they make.
