I remember the exact moment I submitted my charter application. It was months of work—late nights, early mornings, researching, rewriting, doubting, and then rewriting again. That application was my dream on paper, and when I finally stood before the board, I had no idea what would happen next. But then, one by one, every single board member voted yes. Unanimous approval. We had done it— We were opening a school.

How It Started...

I didn’t wake up one day and decide to start a business. Honestly, this work found me.

When I started teaching, I quickly realized that education wasn’t just about books and grades—it was about fighting for equity and giving kids the experiences they deserve. I became a principal, but even in leadership, I could see that Black-led schools and non-profits were up against so much—lack of funding, lack of resources, and sometimes just straight-up doubt that we could succeed.

Then one day, it hit me: What if I used everything I’d learned—through all the late nights, tough lessons, and wins—to help others build schools and programs that actually serve our people?

And that’s how Daye Brake Consulting was born.

I wanted to be someone who could say, “Here’s the blueprint. Here’s how you avoid the mistakes I made. Here’s how we make this work for our communities.”

This business started with me knowing that We deserve better. And it’s grown into a mission to work together, to support Black-led schools and organizations that are breaking barriers, one school, one program at a time.

We provide training to the college students to support the mentorship relationships that they build as a reading friend and tutor.
