The Winsted Citizen – which premiered in February covering several northwest Connecticut towns – continues to maintain its base in Northwest Connecticut and also publishes wide-ranging stories about local, regional and national news, sports, politics, the courts, and the arts.
“Our objective is to raise a decent amount of money to benefit injured boxers, the museum, and to keep the paper alive,” Thibault said. Proceeds will be split three ways.
Suggested donation is $20.00.
The most common boxing injuries include concussions, cuts and blows to the face, and injuries to the hands, fingers and wrists. Recent studies show there are about 250 injuries per 1000 fights. Some boxers experience ongoing cognitive and physical symptoms including headaches, dizziness, balance difficulty and memory problems.
Thibault recently shared a brief history of the paper on the WTIC 1080 show Brian & Company with Brian Shactman: https://www.audacy.com/podcast/brian-company-51438/episodes/brian-and-company-w-andy-thibault-10-9-23-d5395.
