HAPPY HALLOWEEN from us at The Daily Tempo. Here are 12 safety tips for trick-or-treaters:
1. Plan your route: Choose a well-lit and familiar neighborhood to go trick-or-treating.
2. Use reflective gear: Wear bright or reflective clothing, or add reflective tape to your costume to be easily visible to drivers.
3. Carry a flashlight: It will help you see where you're going and make you more visible to others.
4. Walk safely: Stick to sidewalks and cross streets at designated crosswalks or intersections.
5. Look both ways: Before crossing the street, look left, right, and left again to ensure it's safe.
6. Stay with a group: Trick-or-treat with friends or family members and stay together throughout the evening.
7. Stay on the porch: Only visit houses with their porch lights on, and never enter a stranger's home.
8. Be cautious of traffic: Be aware of cars backing out of driveways and always yield to them.
9. Avoid distractions: Put away electronic devices while walking to avoid accidents.
10. Costume safety: Choose costumes that are flame resistant, don't obstruct vision, and are short enough to prevent tripping.
11. Check treats: Inspect all candy and treats before eating them, and avoid homemade items from strangers.
12. Be aware of allergies: If you have any food allergies, make sure to read the labels or ask an adult before consuming any treats.
Remember, safety is the top priority during Halloween festivities. Have a fun and safe time trick-or-treating!
