From now Through July 16: The Delaware Art Museum’s latest exhibition is out of this world. Our Red Planet: Anna Bogatin Ott showcases the work of the Ukrainian-born abstract painter, sculptor and digital artist. Her latest pieces take inspiration from NASA images of Mars, along with commentary on the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine

Delaware State Police Troop 2 is issuing a Gold Alert for 30-year-old James Schafferman of New Castle, Delaware. Schafferman was last seen in the New Castle area on April 1, 2023. Attempts to contact or locate Schafferman have been unsuccessful, and there is a concern for his safety and well-being.

Schafferman is described as a white male, approximately 5’08” tall, weighing approximately 219 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a beard. There is no clothing description available.

Anyone with information regarding James Schafferman’s whereabouts is asked to contact Delaware State Police Troop 2 by calling 302-834-2620, or by dialing 9-1-1. Information may also be provided by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.

SUSSEX CO., Delaware -- One person was killed in Sussex County, Delaware after a line of powerful storms tore through the region on Saturday night.

Those storms also spawned a confirmed tornado in Sussex County, the National Weather Service said.

Delaware state police advised the person was killed after a house collapse.

State police spokesperson Leonard DeMalto said there is "widespread residential damage" across the western part of the county. Downed trees and wires were reported.
A confirmed tornado was located near Bridgeville shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, moving east at 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

The tornado was part of a violent storm system that left nearly two dozen dead in the South and Midwest.

Witnesses say they could see the tornado forming in the air as it tore through Delaware.
