Tonight 6pm on Sick Sad World– Gothober continues with a trad goth dance party! In case you are rusty, this helpful instructional video teaches you the 4 essential dance moves you need to know: 1) clear those spider webs 2) offer/recind offering a drink to a friend (aka opening arms to first position in a gothy way) 3) step over your dead friend 4) watch out for that bee.

I think I might have managed to raise Ephraim Williams's angry spririt last week on SSW. I mean someone stole his skull, his bones are entombed in Thompson Chapel sans head, which might make anyone cross. This Thursday 10/24, in the penultimate Gothtober show before Halloween, it's a trad Goth dance party!

Last Thursday at 6pm est I got a little spooky with a set designed to unsettle. Started with experimental noise-ish then transitioned over to more guitar based music. Parameters: had to be music and songs broadly defined but recognizable as such- no 30 minutes of rumbling, random noises, or static; don't just rely on the classics. Tomorrow 10/17 is all Satan all the time (with one cult thrown in).

I'm partial to LA myself, having grown up in SoCal when some of these bands were still around. It feels like I've been waiting an eternity for this, my vinyl pre-order from what, like fall 2020 sometime? And it's on light-weight vinyl, which isn't multicolored even! It better be good.... And it is. I hope someone choreographs a ballet to this. Thematically and tonally cohesive, very tight though, econo maybe. I was going to add a snarky remark about another hipster USBM band from the same era whose last record was the Exile in Main Street of USBM but I won't. Liturgy ftw. [also I had to crop a lot of the cover because FB don't like mammary glands]

WCFM has been off air since March 2020, notwithstanding efforts by students to figure out a way to safely broadcast or have DJs do their shows remotely. But great dark music has continued to come out and I have bought so many records in the meantime. Since I can't do the show until fall, I'll post pics of the vinyl I've been listening to, in no particular order except how they appear in my unorganized record shelves. First up, some great bands I discovered at virtual Roadburn, a couple of different Emma Ruth Rundle projects, the amazing Stranger Fruit record by Zeal and Ardor, and the Psychic TV single featuring a Message from the Temple of Thee Psychick Youth and the dual track b-side where one is Charles Manson and the other Jim Jones last speech at Jonestown. You know, just all the uplifting music I'm known to play on Sick Sad World.
