About 1:30 AM I talked with WRNJ693 as he was trying out his base. He sounded like he was in Williamsport but was in Mount Wolf. Occasionally I get ask about having a net on the repeater. The biggest thing is having the net controls to do the net. Reply to this post if you would be interested in being net control. Also, reply to the post to discuss a time and day of the week for the net to occur so that can also be figured out.

Bald Eagle Repeater Association Field Day 2024 - To be held Saturday, June 22 at Indian Park in Montoursville, PA at Pavilion #6. Setup around 11 AM and on air at 2 PM. Pass along to anyone who may be interested in Amateur Radio, including public officials and news sources. This will be a combined effort with Lycoming County Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS). This is a public event, so invite everyone you know who may have an interest!

Good evening and welcome to the Williamsport General Mobile Radio Service weekly net. This net meets every Sunday evening at 7 PM. This is (your name and call sign) and I will be acting net control for tonight's net, which operates on the frequency of 462 point 675 Megahertz with a 141.3 CTCSS tone. The purpose of this net is to test our radios and the repeater for any issues. The repeater tower facility is owned by the Bald Eagle Repeater Association, which is a non-profit amateur radio club here in Williamsport, located on Bald Eagle mountain just south of Williamsport. At this time, we will pause and ask if there is any emergency traffic.

If any emergency traffic should arise during the net, please transmit and say break, break and net control will acknowledge you for you to pass your emergency message.

This net is a directed net and all traffic should go through net control. This net is a roster roll call, after one check in we will place you on the roster. If you should not check in for a month's worth of nets, you will be taken off of the roster roll call. You can always check back in to be placed back on the list at the end of the net when we call for late, missed or new check ins.

As a reminder, we are no longer linking or connecting to the Regional net on Sunday evenings. (See the last post below) If you would like to have a local net that is fine, just let me know. Really, all we need is a net control. I can make up a preamble and can occasionally do the net, but we will need some people to do the nets before we can say we are going to set one up. It can be on rotation. It is fine if one person wants to do it, as long as they don't mind the weekly task. Just let me know, so I know, and I will try to get the word out. There was a good local turnout checking into the mygmrs eastern regional net, so Sundays at 7 PM may be a good time for a local net.

As you may know, once per week on Sundays from 7 PM to about 8 PM, we connect to the eastern mygmrs regional net. We also have been connected to another network in southern PA which has been more of a statewide network, which has been limited in activity. 99.9 % of all the communications on the repeater as directly from the repeater. There are at times weak stations, including distant stations who are talking on other 675 repeaters. Mostly this has happened in the 6 AM hour and the call sign comes back to just east of the DC area, which is obviously a rare case of the band conditions/band opening. I know there have been a lot of check-ins on the eastern regional net locally, but to do the right thing, I am going to disconnect the network connections. A warning would be the likely thing from the FCC, but being that it's only a matter of time and a matter of time until they make the wording more clear in the rules, I have decided to make this change regarding linking. There will still be internet to the repeater for control in the event it had to be turned off etc. as that is legal. If you would like to link or talk to other areas, I would suggest getting your ham radio license, which really opens the horizons. If someone would like to start a net and be net control, just let me know. 7 PM on Sundays, that seemed to work for most people with checking into the regional net. I know we don't really have too many issues locally, and hopefully it stays that way, but just remember to go by the FCC rules for GMRS and if there is something I can help answer feel free to ask. Realize that there are people listening on the internet to the repeater as well as in scanners and other radios, including kids radios. So we want to keep this in mind by being professional and PG. Like they said in the video about religion and politics are never good radio topics and I agree. We do have a good group of guys on the repeater locally, and has a lot more activity than I would have imagined when I put the repeater up in 2012. In the last few years it seems the activity has picked up. I listen to the audio of the repeater nightly from the previous day, which is how I know there is activity. Remember, there are 24 hours in a day and just because no one is on when you were doesn't mean, nobody ever is. I try to use this page as a tool for communications with the group but not always do I see replies and messages for whatever reason. An email is the best way to reach me with my weird hours.
