I’m sure a lot of you have been following our FB posts the last couple days about our Krampus Nacht and Nikolaus Tag and I’m sure some of you are asking yourselves what is “beer poking” that we are advertising?
Well here is some information on it and I’m telling you, you might want to come and try one 🔥🍺

The tradition of "beer poking" involves plunging a red-hot metal poker into a glass of beer for a few seconds to warm it and caramelize its malt sugars. The practice is said to have originated in cold climates as a way to warm beer in the winter, and may date back over 400 years. In Germany, it's called bierstacheln, or "beer spiking". Here's what happens when a hot poker is plunged into beer:

• Caramelization: The hot metal instantly caramelizes the beer's residual malt sugars, giving it a more concentrated malt flavor. ��
• Flavor: The beer develops a smoky character and a marshmallow-like toasted taste. ��
