So here I am 1skein in and I am not sure how I feel about this. I am still going to keep going, but, I am not loving how this is working up so far.

New project is underway!

This is my interpretation of a Songtag, or a “Bosom’s Buddy”. It is shawl that goes around your shoulders, crosses your bust and ties around your waist. It will keep you very warm, and it is easy to wear.
Patterns for this was found in various ladies magazines such as Peterson’s and Godey’s for both knit and crochet. This pattern is taken from the Peterson Lady magazine 1864 pattern.
Now, granted, for this attempt I am NOT using PC (period correct) materials. Which I never do. Once I get everything worked out, tweak what needs tweaked, then I can use PC materials.
These will be all natural fibers such as wools and cottons. The dyes will also be in a more conventional style, so no glitter or metallic threads will be found.
If I am feeling REALLY adventurous, I will find virgin yarns and dye it myself using natural dyes. But that is a whole other post, and a whole other day. Today I am just starting to see if I can actually follow a pattern from 1864!

Bel (Isabel) Bakaturski is an Non-Binary artist and cosplayer that is currently studying at CCAC for the arts. They were accepted into Westinghouse Arts Academy in 2018 and graduated in 2022.

Can't make the meet & greet? No worries! Their work is on display and available to purchase at Greensburg Garden & Civic Center from now until March 31, during regular business hours.

Annnnnd the “Simple Comforts” project is still going! Had to take a small break due to some hand strain (getting old is a pain- pun intended ) BUT! We have use some good old fashioned medicines and got things moving again! Also have some other projects in the works and, hopefully, some announcements to make in the future. Stay tuned!
