MEET MELISSA : Associate Photographer

Melissa lives in the Central Pa area with her husband, two children, and an assortment of feathered and furry babies (chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, and more). Besides spending time with her family and pets, she loves coffee, checking out local shops/restaurants, and antique stores. She also enjoys exploring new locations!

Melissa has been described by Clients as being down to earth, easy going, and efficient. Her approach to your wedding day is to keep things fun while capturing the candid moments, and providing guidance throughout the day. Melissa's goal is to help make sure things go as smoothly as possible so you can be present in the moment, and have beautiful pictures to cherish.

MEET ZARAH : Owner and Lead Photographer of

Zarah has been photographing love stories since 2012. She lives in Eastern PA just outside of with her husband, cousin and their three cats. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, riding , cuddling with her kitties, going to concerts and traveling.

Her photography style is documentary mixed with guidance; this hybrid approach to the day helps couples to feel less pressure and enables them to enjoy the day without fear of missing anything important - because Zarah will guide them through each step and even the unexpected moments!

As we make our way into 2025, I find myself reflecting on the past few years. I am beyond grateful to those who saw my work and supported me throughout my journey. I started down this path in 2012 and took every chance I got to make photography a full-time job - and failed every time until 2020! In the height of the covid shut down, I chose to quit my full-time marketing management position and focus solely on my love; photography. That decision changed my life permanently and in 2024 I experienced so many emotions and life changes. In 2024, I became the owner of a second business: I now offer formal graduation portraits for high school and college grads. I celebrated the marriages of over 50 couples. I traveled the coast of California. I mourned the death of a close friend. I experienced the highs and lows of business ownership and life. I am thankful for 2024, but also excited for what is to come in 2025.

James and Liz were such a blast to celebrate their wedding with! We adventuted through out the city of on a wintery January day and finished up their night with indoor fireworks at the Ballroom at the Ben!

Our Story

ZaZa Design was started in the summer months of 2012 after owner Zarah McGarvey realized she simply could go no longer without taking the camera everywhere she went. Art had always been a huge part of Zarah's life, and photography was no different. When she was a little girl, she would run and hide with her mother's disposable cameras a take pictures of her dogs, birds, the flowers outside and her dad… while he was sleeping! It was when she was 14 that she received her first camera for Christmas that she realized just how much she loved taking pictures. From that year, all the way to her graduation in 2012, Zarah's passion for photography only grew more as she learned the art of touching up photographs in numerous editing programs such as the Adobe Creative Suite's Photoshop, and another version for PC called GIMP. Now, two years later, business is buzzing! Working with a bakery to market their work, taking pictures of friends who are having little ones, and also marketing herself along the way, Zarah is keeping busy and never stops pushing forward. This is a testament to her work as well. Dedication creates wonderful and also speedy results, when you work with ZaZa Design you will not be disappointed, but instead enlightened and enriched with wonderful memories for your family to cherish or marketable tools for your business to use to grow to such great heights.
