Let’s make apple cobbler. I’ve been wanting to make this one for some time now. We picked the best Arkansas black apples from Oak Glen. Our favorite! Recipe: peel, core, 6 apples, and cut into 1/4 in. slices. In a large pan, melt 4 tbs butter, and transfer the slices, add 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, cook for 10 min while stirring. To a small bowl, add 1/2 tsp of flour and 1/4 cup of water. Mix until flour dissolves. Add mixture to the apple sauce and cook for 2 minutes. To a large bowl, add 3/4 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 tsp of baking powder, a pinch of salt, 1 & 1/2 cup of milk, a tsp of vanilla, 4 tbs of melted butter, and 1 tsp of lemon zest. Mix until fully incorporated. Pour the batter over the apples and spread vigorously. Bake for 40-50 minutes at 350 or until golden brown.
