**Friday's Freezing Rain Update (7:40am Wednesday)**

*Timing*
Freezing rain is expected to develop around 6am Friday. As temperatures warm, freezing rain will change to rain from south to north. Most areas will see all rain after 2pm.

*Totals*
A trace of ice is possible south of US 6. A glaze of ice less than 0.1" is expected between US 6 and the turnpike. More than 0.1" of ice is possible north of the turnpike with up to 0.25" of ice from Monroe to Adrian.

*Impact*
The main impact will be slick and hazardous roads on Friday morning. Ice totals around 0.25" or higher is considered "significant" as the weight of the ice is enough to start breaking small tree branches. We could near this threshold from Monroe to Adrian and areas north. If that occurs, isolated power outages are possible.

*Uncertainty*
There is still some uncertainty in the storm track and ice accumulations on Friday. Also a small temperature change can have a large impact on how much ice accumulates. The forecast could improve or get worse over the next 48 hours. The First Alert Weather Team will have updates on-air, online, on social media, and anywhere you have your phone with our free First Alert Weather App.

If you're in the Midwest and hear random loud booms overnight those could be frost quakes! I've had a couple people mention hearing strange sounds!

This happens when ground water freezes rapidly, usually at the onset of quickly falling temperatures! The water expands the ground quickly, causing a loud popping sound! Rarely do you experience shaking, but its possible!

Our friends and weather experts at the US National Weather Service Wilmington OH have provided this weather outlook as of 2PM (12/12). This expected snowfall map is what Ohio might see between tonight and Sunday morning. Check your local weather to see what's expected in your area.

We currently have over 500 crews out working, and will have more as the evening approaches, to prepare for the expected inclement weather.

Some things YOU can do are:
- Plan ahead
- Give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going (This means: if it normally takes you 20 minutes to get somewhere, it will likely take longer to get there)
- Pay attention to the road
- Give us room to work
