As one of just 15 members of the 2021 John Newbery Award Selection Committee, she had the incredible privilege—and challenge—of choosing “the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children” by reading hundreds and hundreds of books and, with the committee, selecting one to receive the coveted gold seal that denotes the John Newbery Award.
