JEFFERSON COUNTY NO UNNECESSARY TRAVEL ADVISORY

The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for Jefferson County. Expect wide bands of heavy lake effect snow, beginning late this evening lasting through midday Sunday.

The unpredictable nature of lake effect snow creates rapidly changing road conditions and reduced visibility. Whiteout conditions are expected and road conditions are likely to become impassible.

Due to these potentially hazardous weather conditions, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has issued a No Unnecessary Travel Advisory for all of Jefferson County, effective 12:00am Friday. This advisory will remain in effect for the duration of the Lake Effect Snow Warning issued by the NWS. Motorists should adjust travel plans accordingly.
