As a nurse, professionalism and empathy are the foundations of providing excellent care. Today, let’s talk about 7 things nurses should avoid doing in front of patients to ensure trust and confidence in our care.

✨ 1. Show Negative Emotions:
Patients look to us for reassurance, not frustration or impatience. Let’s leave our bad moods at the door!

✨ 2. Gossip or Complain About Others:
Speaking negatively about coworkers or other patients damages professionalism and creates mistrust.

✨ 3. Overshare Personal Problems:
While building rapport is great, patients don’t need to hear about our personal struggles during care.

✨ 4. Dismiss Questions or Concerns:
Patients deserve to feel heard. Ignoring their worries can erode trust in their care.

✨ 5. Use Too Much Medical Jargon:
Not everyone knows what “stat” or “hypertension” means—let’s simplify and explain when needed.

✨ 6. Disagree With Colleagues Publicly:
A unified team approach makes patients feel secure. Conflict can wait until after the shift!

Hey guys! So, I’ve been a bit under the weather these past few days, but I’m finally starting to feel better. 🙌 I’ve been super worried about not being productive, but today I’m hoping to get back on track.

Anyone else feel like a whole new person after getting dressed up and putting on some makeup? It's funny how it helps me feel more normal again after being stuck in bed. Also, since it’s Christmas Eve, I’m heading downtown with my mom to keep up with our tradition of doing something special, even though I’m working tomorrow (Christmas Day)! 🎄

What about you guys? Do you have any fun traditions you keep up around the holidays, even if you’re working or just feeling off? I’d love to hear how you’re spending the day! Also, how do you deal with getting back to productivity after being sick? Any tips to make it easier?
