👍🏾Fact: I’m one of the boldest, assertive, toughest and fearless guys you will EVER meet.

👍🏾Another Fact: I’m ALWAYS scared!!!

I get it done! YES, I say yes without knowing it all and exceed the standard. I go through trials head on, in faith, with a real smile and optimism. That’s who I am!

🥴BUT I’m always scared (no one sees or knows). Truth is I’m scared now

The quick thing we can all say is, “at least this didn’t happen” or “it could’ve been worse etc.” But what’s not so quick to work through is how I feel about how I feel. Here’s the issue:

👂🏾 How I’m progressing is happening quicker than how I’m processing. I’ve been so focused on treatment and thriving that I haven’t really dealt with how I feel. So I’m grateful for the good that’s working out for me while still being bothered, mad and maybe even hurt about the whole thing. I’m living in the tension between the two. Blessed and burdened at the same time. Honest moment: IT SUCKS!

👏🏾 Please understand, I feel great and that’s a blessing. But it’s OK to have other feelings and emotions that many times we don’t want to talk about openly.

📖 I can hear God saying:

fear not, for I am with you;� be not dismayed, for I am your God;�I will strengthen you, I will help you,� I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Is 41:10)

🙌🏾 Let me tell you what, the ONLY thing that helps me get past fear is KNOWING that HE IS WITH ME

I can’t “fear not” without that assurance.

💊 It’s treatment week!

Yall 2 weeks has flown by being on this Low Iodine Diet (LID) preparing for this week. As many of you know I had my Thyroid removed on 4/29/24 which had an almost 5cm mass of cancer (Folicular) in it. I was in stage zero, no spread, totally contained - GOD IS A PROTECTOR!

This week I will undergo Radioactive Iodine Therapy (RAI) it’s a form of radiation used to destroy any remaining thyroid cells that have the potential to grow and become cancerous again. In other words, this treatment keeps me from not having to look over my shoulder anymore.

🙌🏾YES, I’ve been waiting to get this over with.

I feel great and I’m looking forward to a continued healthy future and staying intentional about increasing my health.

💉 Tomorrow I start a special diet for 2 weeks to prepare for treatment that will significantly decrease if not remove the risk of my thyroid cancer returning.
Based on what I can eat, I will undoubtedly lose more weight or fat. YES, I will most likely look slimmer.

👉🏾I share this because we have this awful habit of saying to people, “you gett’n too skinny,” “I like you with a little bit more weight,” and the list goes on😏

We don’t care what the person might be going through or if that’s just a choice they wanted to make. We care that they don’t look how we want them to look to us. Like Yo! How did someone else’s weight loss or gain become about you? Why do you care? 🙊 YOU DONT! We don’t care about the person we just like to talk and sometimes it’s good to just shut the_______front door 🤷🏾

Let people live…If you aren’t encouraging 👋🏾. If you can’t say anything positive 👋🏾.

In my case I’ll take skinny over death all day every day. This stuff is scary

👋🏾 Yesterday was interesting

2 hours after getting home from church I was off to the ER. Since my surgery, my calcium levels have been dropping which cause painful symptoms . I felt the onset yesterday so we went. Thankfully I was stable, levels were good and I didn’t have to get admitted. But YO!!! I just had an awesome time in worship 🥴

Pastor Jenkins started talking about God’s favor and His power and it sent the church into an excited uproar. Wow! I was like yeahhhh, stood up, clapped and all that. Then I’m in the ER. I was thinking, “This don’t go together.” This does not look like favor or God’s power. I ain’t gonna lie, I was calm but was feeling SOME KINDA WAYYYY😡😡😡😡

But I thought about why I was so excited at church. It was because I had so many testimonies of God’s power- to include in my health - that I knew what Pastor was saying was spot on. Stuff happens, but God’s power really has been evident in my life in spite of what I’m currently facing. I had to tell myself, “I will see His power again.”

Well I’m encouraged, and as of today my levels seem to be better. This is what I know:

“The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all” - Ps. 34:19

🔅Day 5 without my thyroid (gulp)🥴

Transparent Moment:
I told my wife today that it’s been an interesting last couple of years. Between December 2022 and this Monday, March 2024 (not even 2 years) I’ve had 3 surgeries. Two of them (my spine and thyroid) have been complete scares in my life. They have been those outta the blue “God what in the heck (sometimes *}^}%?) is going on here” type issues that I would have never thought would be the case in my life.

I’m 10 years younger than when my mom died of cancer and am healthier than she was and continue to do all I can to maintain a high level of health and fitness. So having these types of scares where there is fear of paralysis or cancer have been frustrating and frightening as one of my private goals has been to outlive her and my dad by at least 40-50 years (he died 5 years after her).

Yes I believe I have long life ahead, Yes I know I’m going to fulfill my purpose- BUT man sometimes……..SIGHHHHH

Welp! I just had a MOMENT and that’s all it was. It’s okay to have them, to reflect, to ask questions, to evaluate, to be mad - LET IT OUT!!!! But now we MOVE. There’s no perfect day or scenario for me to get everything God has for me, I just have to trust Him and work in His power knowing that HIS strength is made perfect in my weakness.

I know some of yall like to tell me, “You’re so strong” - and I appreciate the encouragement. However yall don’t realize how weak I am. The strength you see IS HIM. I make myself available in pain, in tears, in frustration, in I don’t feel like it and HE makes me look strong. He’s able so I am able💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

All I can say is: GLORY TO GOD
