Black Radio Uncensored pays homage to Black Legends and Icons (Past & Present) on their BORN DAY! This week we are remembering and celebrating the ๐Ÿโ€ฆ.a GLOBAL ICON, the KING of POP and one of the most significant figures of the 20th centuryโ€ฆsinger, songwriter, dancer, philanthropist, Michael Joseph Jackson! He is the 2nd best-selling music artist of all time (but recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time) with estimated sales of over 500 million records worldwide; Thriller is the best-selling album of all time, with estimated sales of 70 million copies worldwide. His other albums, including Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995), also rank among the worldโ€™s best-selling. He won hundreds of awards (more than any other artist in the history of popular music). Jacksonโ€™s inductions include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (twice), the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Dance Hall of Fame (making him the only recording artist to be inducted) and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame. His other achievements include Guinness world records (including the Most Successful Entertainer of All Time), 15 Grammy Awards (including the Legend and Lifetime Achievement awards), 26 American Music Awards (more than any other artist), and 13 number-one US singles (more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era). Jackson was the first artist to have a top ten single in the Billboard Hot 100 in five different decades. In 2016, his estate earned $825 million, the highest yearly amount for a celebrity ever recorded by Forbes. Whew! ๐Ÿ˜… Happy ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Heavenly Birthday Mike! We love you! ๐Ÿ–ค๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽˆ(August 29, 1958)

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ RIP "Congresswoman" Sheila Jackson Lee. Jackson Lee, a strong progressive voice in the Democratic Party who was outspoken on African-American and women's rights has passed away from pancreatic cancer. "A fierce champion of the people, she was affectionately and simply known as 'Congresswoman' by her constituents in recognition of her near-ubiquitous presence and service to their daily lives for more than 30 years," her family said in the statement. She was active throughout her career in promoting legislation aimed at addressing social justice, economic inequality and public health concerns. Jackson Lee, who represented parts of Houston, introduced a legislation in the House of Representatives to make "Juneteenth" a federal holiday commemorating the end of the legal enslavement of Black Americans. She was one of the longest serving members of Texasโ€™ Congressional delegation dating back to 1994. Jackson Lee built strong ties with her partyโ€™s leadership and throughout her caucus and her contributions and her presence will be missed. Thank you for your service! โœŠ๐Ÿพ (Sunrise, January 12, 1950- Sunset, July 19, 2024) Rough week! ๐Ÿ—ฃTrump is playing a REAL LIVE version of Apprentice on America! Love him or hate him, he is a marketing genius! He's NOT FIT to be a President of these United States but has truly proven to be very qualified to run the marketing side of the Trump Organization. The same organization that is actively orchestrating the biggest COUP in American History! The problem is, he's F'ing with BLACK LIVES in the process! THIS IS ALL A GAME TO THEM. DO NOT FALL FOR THE ๐ŸŒIN THE TAIL PIPE! His so-called assassination ATTEMPT, followed by a convenient PHOTO OP of "FIST PUMPS" is all by design. A perfectly orchestrated plan to reverse back to a time when there was control and power over the weakest within the population, you know, the ones chosen to do "BLACK JOBS"! ๐Ÿ‘€ His VP pick (a well documented HYPOCRITE, white nationalist now Trumpโ€™s Apprentice) only strengthens that argument and should further cement our ONLY recourse in November, STOP TRUMP! His reputation is ๐Ÿ—‘. The video can't be unseen. ๐ŸŒšThing is, I ain't need to see a video to believe! Discernment and common sense is all it takes to sniff out toxic masculinity. I mean he settled with Cassie in a record breaking 24 hours! C'mon now and on top of all the stories and accusations through the years and everything else we know about Diddy including the alleged murders of Biggie and Kim Porter. ๐Ÿ‘€ What I will say once again is that there is nothing new under sun. This type of barbaric behavior been happening since the beginning of time. This happens often times to women who lack self respect, lack self esteem, lack financial resources and have a strong dependency on men for financial resources. Lack of positive male energy can also be attributed to this epidemic which generally stems from the lack of love and attention from both parents during childhood through their teen years. The old "no father in your life" bit can only go so far, strong mothers are equally important and needed to break the generational curses within the black community. Holding EVERYONE with power and influence accountable is also important to help break generational curses in our community. Stop turning a blind eye to bullSh!% because someone has money or fame, that's lame AF! Parents do your job! It starts with us! Conditioning the minds of our offsprings in their formative years can deter a lot of the bu****it we seeing in pop culture. Let's talk about it! This one hit different! ๐Ÿ˜ขI paused my vacation and anniversary celebrations to log on and pay my respect to a real one! Louis Cameron Gossett Jr. was best known for his as role as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley in the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman, winning him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (the first black actor to do so) but I remember seeing him for the first time in 1976 on Good Times as Florida's brother or cousin (My memory shady, I'm getting old yall! )๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜‚ and again as Fiddler in the 1977 ABC television miniseries Roots, which he won an Emmy Award. He's played in so many TV & Film projects, too many to name. His multi-faceted career spanned from 1953 to present day with just recently being, The Color Purple remake.....Just wow! Black Radio Uncensored pays homage to Black Legends and Icons (Past & Present) on their BORN DAY! This week we're celebrating "The Boss", singer, actress, and record producer, Diana Ross! Diana rose to fame as the lead singer of the Supremes, which, during the 1960s, became Motown's most successful act, the best charting girl group in US history, as well as one of the world's best-selling girl groups of all time. The group released a record-setting twelve number-one hit singles on the US Billboard Hot 100. Following her departure from the Supremes in 1970, Ross released her eponymous debut solo album that same year, which contained the Top 20 Pop hit "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)" and the number-one Pop hit "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". She later released the album Touch Me in the Morning in 1973; its title track reached number 1, as her second solo No. 1 hit. That same year, her album Lady Sings the Blues, which was the original soundtrack of her film based on the life of jazz singer Billie Holiday, went to no. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling more than 300,000 copies within its first 8 days of release. By 1976, the Mahogany soundtrack included her third number-one hit, "Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)". Her eponymous 1976 album included her fourth number-one hit, "Love Hangover". In 1979, Ross released the album The Boss. Ross was named the "Female Entertainer of the Century" by Billboard magazine. In 1993, the Guinness Book of World Records declared Ross the most successful female music artist in history for having more hits than any female artist in the charts, with a career total of 70 hit singles with her work with the Supremes and as a solo artist.
In 1988, Ross was inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Kennedy Center Honors in 2007 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2016 and much more! Happy Birthday Diana!๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽˆ (March 26, 1944)

Black Radio Uncensored pays homage to Black Legends and Icons (Past & Present) on their BORN DAY! This week we're showing some birthday love to (IMHO) the greatest shooter in NBA history, Wardell Stephen Curry II! ๐Ÿ’ซ This six-time NBA All-Star, named the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice and won three NBA championships with the Warriors is credited with revolutionizing the game of basketball by inspiring teams to regularly employ the three-point shot as part of their winning strategy. His stats are crazy! During the 2012โ€“13 season, Curry set the NBA record for three-pointers made in a regular season with 272. He surpassed that record in 2015 with 286 and again in 2016 with 402. Curry is currently third in all-time made three-pointers in NBA history. The 2012โ€“13 season saw Curry and teammate Klay Thompson earn the nickname of the Splash Brothers, with the pair going on to set the NBA record for combined three-pointers in a season with 484 in 2013โ€“14, a record they broke the following season (525) and again in the 2015โ€“16 season (678). ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿพ In 2014โ€“15, Curry won his first MVP award and led the Warriors to their first championship since 1975. The following season, he became the first player in NBA history to be elected MVP by a unanimous vote and to lead the league in scoring while shooting above 50โ€“40โ€“90. That same year, the Warriors broke the record for the most wins in an NBA season en route to reaching the 2016 NBA Finals, which they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Curry helped the Warriors return to the NBA Finals in 2017 and 2018, where they won back-to-back titles. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ He continues to dominate and set the bar and we are here for it! Happy Birthday Step! ๐Ÿ€ ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽˆ(March 14, 1988) ๐Ÿ€
