Today our “Water Life” initiative was well received by Members of the Virginia Beach City Council as well as our Mayor. Wet Life Adventures and Water Life will be teaching inner City young Men and Women, Jetskiing, Boating, Swimming, Surfing, Kayaking as well as Navigation. We are VBStrong!

Today at Church we learned, “HAPPINESS.” Something everyone should seek. If you seek Happiness, you’ll find it, but first start with “SELF.” When you find Happiness with SELF you’ll find Happiness in Church, Work, Politics, Business and most of all Relationships. As Leaders, Happiness is vitally important. The morale of your operation depends on it. If you find yourself being miserable, instead of seeking other miserable people, seek out Happy People and study them. Like the song goes, “Don’t Worry Be Happy.”

I just realized how diverse our Family is. I have every walk of life as relatives. White, Black, Filipino, Indian, Muslim. Christian, Atheist, Democrats, Republican, Lawyers, Doctors, TV and Film Executives, It’s really COOL. It’s amazing what you can learn from each and everyone of them, especially my Mother in Law, who just transitioned. RIP Loretta Davenport(middle), Septemper 11, 1939 - March 13, 2024. “The Matriarch.”

The Key to ending Police Brutality as it relates to the African American Community is to hire and promote more African American Law Enforcement professionals. Our Branch VIrginia Beach Naacp stepped in and met with our Virginia Beach Chief of Police to express this concern. As a result the Virginia Beach Police Department promoted its 4th African American Captain, William Gervin. Expect more promotions as well as an increase in minority recruiting. Don’t forget, the first Friday in March, come out and celebrate with us at Black Eye Peas. Join the fight and become a Member of the NAACP.

Even though I kinda got kicked out of Clive Davis, Arista Records office back in 2000 for bringing a wack Artist to his table who I thought was hot, obviously he didn’t. However, He did ask me what I thought about this new Rap Duo called the Clipses coming out of VA? I didn’t know them or heard of them at the time. Around this time, We had a TV Show and a magazine called Hitmakers. My Wife and I worked with a lady, Kathy at TWA (part time Job)who kept telling us about this new group, CLIPSE. Finally I heard a few tracks, the one that caught my attention was “Grinding” (hit single)before it hit Radio. The Neptunes (Pharrell and Chad Hugo), along with Rob Walker had just created their own lane and created Star Trak Entertainment/Records. I was eager to get to know this new Hip Hop Duo on the come up from VA. Kathy connected me to Sommer a New Yorker with industry swag. She introduced me to her first Cousin Anthony Gonzalez aka Geezy, who managed the CLIPSE, under Soul Provider Management. Geezy was Sharp, straight Businessman with the Industry Swag that gets things done. I knew then, this entire StarTrak, Soul Provider Management movement was bound to take the Virginia Music scene to new levels. That they did. My aggressiveness, got me an interview with who would become the hottest Hip Hop Duo of its time, The CLIPSE, with Malice and Pusha T. I got their names mixed up in the interview and the mistake was quickly brought to my attention by Sommer. I apologized, the rest is History. This picture was taken as part of the interview at the Sheraton Hotel downtown Norfolk. I was Blessed to have the Clipse as the Headliner at the first ever, “Hampton Roads Hip Hop and R&B Music Awards” at the NTelos Amphitheater in Portsmouth, VA, 2001. Im not new to this, just true to this.
