We Are Colonial Beach
The volunteers that made this dream a reality have a straightforward, shared vision: To deliver programming that serves and supports Colonial Beach in ways that commercial stations do not, by broadcasting unique, local programs that inform, engage and entertain both residents and visitors.
Colonial Beach Community Radio went on the air June 1st, 2019. As our station matures, we expect WWER to be the voice of Colonial Beach. 88.1 FM is a non-commercial, community radio station. Unlike commercial radio, WWER has a different, and we believe more valuable, contribution to make to the town and its nearby residents. Music will be a part of that, but some of it will be music you haven’t heard in awhile. Colonial Beach is lucky to have some amazing artistic and musical talent, and we will tap into that.
When you hear music on WWER, it will be interspersed with interesting history and information about the music. When you hear a weather report, it will include information that relevant to boaters. When we do news, it will include stories from in and around Colonial Beach that you won’t hear about on any other stations. Whether it’s the Potomac Riverfest, Friday Art Walk, fishing tournaments, Bikefest, or the Holiday Boat Parade, we will let you know about local events and include information about community members who are organizing them! If your non-profit has something to publicize on WWER, please fill out and email this form to [email protected] at least 2 weeks in advance.
WWER is all about the people and events that make this town special. For those who live here, it will truly be the community’s radio station. Visitors will tune to 88.1 for music and information about what to do in our fun beach town. In the spirit of community radio, we want your input. If you have ideas for programs, please connect with our Program Director and help us make this station great!
