So, we know we’ve been on hiatus for a minute, but we’re back to tell you DEMOCRACY NEEDS YOU!

😔 Voter turnout for the primary election across all of Texas has been super depressed. Voter suppression is working, so we gotta do everything we can to make sure our people show up.

🗳 The primary is like practice for the real deal midterms this Nov. 8. Plus, in many areas that lean strongly for one party (which is everywhere now, thanks to gerrymandering!), the primaries are where many important judicial, State Board of Education, County Commissioner/Judge, and State Rep/Senate seats are decided.

📣🤸🏻‍♀️Early voting now until Feb. 25. Election Day March 1. Get your voting guides and sample ballots at vote411.org, or DM for Ashley and Becky’s personal endorsements.

A couple years ago we had the great honor of emceeing the first ever convening by Supermajority]—a dream come true. 💖

It was so uplifting to be reunited with today at the Texas Capitol after her fiery speech (and Becky B] just happened to be sporting her Supermajority] shirt!). 🔥

If you want to keep showing up and fighting for our rights, make sure you are following — Monday is a big hearing on the racist redistricting maps that just came out & she’s helping organize people to show up. Let’s create a more just & equitable Texas!

This is our friend — she’s a paramedic, ICU nurse & chief of the Austin EMS association.

We have seen how incredibly hard Selena & other emergency workers have it on the front lines of COVID, dealing with natural disasters like the freeze in February, and routinely putting themselves in danger to keep our city safe and healthy.

We don’t want funding taken away from our emergency workers and funneled into hiring more police, which is what Prop A could do.

Unfortunately, the Prop A people are really well funded by national Republican orgs.

That’s why we’re trying to raise money for No Way on Prop A] before their month-end deadline. We can’t afford for Prop A to pass! Can you pitch in a few bucks to help defeat this harmful proposition?

We spent 8 hours at the Capitol waiting to testify against SB 1 & HB 3, the anti-democracy bills filed in this (un)special

We’re both taking a break to do life things, but you still have lots of time today to head to the Capitol & register against HB 3. Public testimony still hasn’t started on that one! We may be back later in the wee hours…

The 87th Texas legislature has yee'd its last haw, so we decided it was time for a slumber party game now that we can all actually sleep again.

We invited Diana Gómez of Progress Texas and Michael Kanin of the Texas Observer to put on their jammies and join us for a (very chaste) game of Spin the Bottle. We determine which bills we'd like to make out with and which bills we wish got shoved in a locker or thrown in a dumpster or given an atomic we**ie.

❌The ban on critical race theory will prevent teachers from teaching current events as well as anything related to race, racism or discrimination.

📖 This will impact curriculum on slavery, the Civil War, the Holocaust, the Civil Rights movement, and more.

Today we both ugly cried at the Capitol. And then we remembered how hard staffers and reps must be ugly crying all the time. So, we filled our swag bags with bananas, nutty chocolates, and love notes to our fave reps and staffers.

Because, y'all, things are beyond B-A-N-A-N-A-S and NUTTY at the . This week, Texas is a few steps away from basically banning abortion, allowing anyone to carry a gun without a license, and passing tonight an abysmal bill that will intimdate people of color and immigrants from voting and make it more difficult for students, military, people with disabilities, and older adults.

If you have staffer and rep friends, send them some love. They are working their asses off fighting for us.
