I spend about 20% of my time scouting what others are doing.

Be it in my industry or in that of my clients’. It goes a step beyond competitor research. It is behaving as a customer on their site and observing how their process flows. Checking out the UI/UX of the website and the funnel they are putting you through.

One of my observations was that the bigger companies had more instances of outdated content and flawed funnels as compared to the smaller ones.

Why so?

It could be because they are running multiple funnels and are not keeping an eye on how each of them are performing.

It could be because they have multiple changes in the marketing team, with each team working on a certain few funnels and when they leave, the funnel stays on sans any eyes on it.

It could be because they have so much content on their website that they might tend to miss out on some of the dated content that needs to be edited or removed.

The idea is to keep things easy and simple. There needs to be a system around content management.

I am a big proponent of SOPs. It is a no-brainer that a company will see multiple management changes and what should not change in the process is a proven method. A few tweaks are fine. But these tweaks should also be included in the master SOP.

This way things flow in a predictable way. Marketing and content itself could be a messy affair given the centipede like nature of the function. With each move, a ton of other areas in marketing are affected.

Therefore integration, too, is crucial and I cannot emphasize it enough.

This comes as a learning to all marketers and entrepreneurs. Do not get complacent and always have a process in place.

If you are spending money on ads that are leading your TG to a landing page where they make a purchase or sign up, try to check that page as often as you can through the CTA to see if it is functioning well or not.

So many times I come across broken links and pages showing up in HTML text and a completely messed up UI for a landing page that it kills the whole experience. Empathy needs you to actually FEEL what your audience is feeling. Have just an “idea” or being able to relate isn’t enough.

When you empathise you start seeing how they feel with a certain piece of communication from you.

What kind of information might they want next.

How your recent update might impact their life.

Having this clarity in understanding your audience is no less than a superpower.

One of the biggest reasons content falls flat on the face is because we post what we think people want.

No, it is never about us. Or what we think.

Know your audience inside out.

Spend time building a buyer persona.

Figure out what makes them tick and what scares them.

Know everything as much as you can and most importantly what are the questions they usually ask.

Even if they don’t pertain to your product directly, still try to answer them.

Address them with humour and empathy as that’s the best way to break the “I don’t know you” barrier.

Stop worrying about what you will post tomorrow. This robs you of your ability to create good content today.

It's not me trying to scare you on a Monday morning.

I'll just be stating some facts.

Every day you are not reaching out to your target audience and connecting with them, you are losing out on not just precious time with them, but also their mind space, to your competitors.

We tend to remember our firsts more than our seconds, thirds, fourths, and fifths.

Why lose out on the opportunity of being the first on your target audience's mind?

Not just that.

One very important thing that we all tend to miss out on is that marketing is not a "One Shot Success" matter. Marketing is experimenting.

If someone, anyone, is telling you that there is a single proven method of doing it right, they are not being completely truthful.

So chances are that, even if you start marketing today, you will be behind on your product launch, your market expansion, and/or your revenue generation.

It is a bitter pill, but I am here to make it a bit sweeter.

Of course, it will take time, effort, and money. But the sooner you start the less money you need to pour in.

It's a simple equation. You have more time to try out various techniques to find out what works best for your product or your brand.

And since you are not in a hurry to fall behind, you have that time to experiment, learn, and grow without trying to reach your target audience, a week before launch by pumping in ad money which is getting you low-quality leads, because let's face it, the market is not warmed up enough for your brand.

Steal my easy 2 step content creation practice that lets me come up with relatable content every single day!

The frustration of looking for content ideas every day, with the pressure of them actually performing is a real one. And I am sure, many of you might relate to this.

The idea that you HAVE TO come up with fresh content ideas every day, is insane. Especially when you have your main tasks on hand and content creation is something you are doing for the sake of brand awareness and lead generation.

Let me tell you, a tired and stressed-out brain rarely gives you good ideas.

So this is what you can do instead. Just 2 simple things.

1. Consume on a threshold.

Think of yourself as your target audience. Put yourself in their shoes (basically, empathize). Start scrolling and see what kind of content is vibing with you. Soak it in, take notes, and limit intake so you don't slide down the rabbit hole.

If you do happen to lose yourself in the rabbit hole, know that you will find it difficult to come up with fresh content with your own perspective added to it, as there will be bias in your statements.

What makes a piece of content rock solid is when you (a unique individual) add your thoughts and perspectives to a certain case in point.

2. Repurpose old content.

Just because you posted it once, does not mean that it needs to be lost in digital oblivion. Give it a second chance. That includes both the posts that had performed well and the ones that could be tried in another format.

✅ You could turn a list post into a carousel and vice-versa.
✅ Add a new image to the post,
✅ Change the hook, and breathe new life into the content.

Analytics are important here. Go through post insights and find out what had worked and what didn't.

I know this sounds like a lot of work, too. But like everything else, when you do something enough times, it starts getting easier.

And trust me, this is definitely a lot less work than putting yourself under unnatural pressure to create new content every day when you are battling deadlines, tickets, and bugs.

No engagement is most often a result of not being able to reach the customers ears or heart.

There are certainly other factors at play here such as how good your content is, whether it is delivering value and if you’re consistent.

and of course, there’s the algorithm.

But we have to use the forces we have at our disposal. You already have great content. No one knows your product better than you.

You just have to get others to see value in it. And this post shows you how you can do that.

Lead generation is often the cause of concern for most businesses. It doesn't matter if you're a coach, consultant, small business or enterprise. Keeping the sales pipeline full is a need no one can overlook.

This list showcases the 9 ways in which you can keep leads flowing in to the pipeline. But don't let the simplicity of this list fool you.

what does this mean for you?

This means that if you are playing a price-point battle by offering your products and services at a cheaper cost, you WILL BE replaced soon.

You will be replaced by someone who is managing the processes better, cutting costs further, and making more margins all the while offering the product at a cheaper cost.

What you NEED to do instead of lowering your prices and thinning your margins further, is educate the audience. Show them the VALUE you bring to the table. It is fine to cater to a smaller market at a higher price by showing them how YOU can change the narrative for them.

Talk to them. Clear their doubts. Offer yourself as a thought leader in your space. Give them actionable insights. Show up often. Make them remember you. Ensure you create and ride with a brand image and identity that is difficult to wash off.

Be the brand that people WANT to be associated with.

Remember, people never really want to keep buying the same cheap stuff to SAVE money. They want to progress in life, do better, be better, and use resources to make that happen.

Be that resource. Be that beacon that guides them to a better future. Make them aspire to be like you. Make them aspire to afford your brand.

I have been receiving multiple messages from clients whom I consult and also followers on Twitter and LinkedIn asking me about the low engagement rates on socials right now.

This is a common phenomena and happens during summer every year when people take time off and spend more time with their families on vacations. They might just skim through social media from time to time and not as much as you’d like them to.

As a result there is a dip in posts reach and views.

Don’t sweat it and don’t lose heart. Use this time to work on your strategies, renew your content, repurpose the well performing ones.

Don’t put yourself through the pressure and heartbreak of creating content regularly only to see less than average engagement.

Post less frequently and use this time to connect and network with people who are online and present.

Why do you think that happens?

Sign ups and downloads are not the marker of a successful business.

It is retention and platform stickiness.

And how can you make that happen?

By constantly educating your current customers and potential ones about their pain points, why they chose to join you and how you continue to solve their problems in better ways with each new day.

You need to constantly keep talking to them.

They own a ton of products.

Yours is not the only one.

You need to keep showing up with your branding, logo, and content constantly every where they go.
