My friends... we have just about done it! We ordered the base box yesterday!

I am so excited to get back to work, it is hard to contain my glee. I just need a little more help to get to the finish line.

Still needed are a graphics monitor, a keyboard and mouse, a we**am and speakers. These are needed because Apple sells you the box and nothing else at this level of computing power. I also still need the funds to ship the boxes and to pay the tax man.

Dayo and I are talking non-stop about art (we've been talking non-stop about art for the last three years, but the last two weeks have been excessive even for us) and what it would mean for us both to be able to draw and create.

This machine though, isn't just about art. It's about being able to freely create content of all kinds including video, 3D and audio content. It's about the ability to rapidly develop and monetise that content.

Many of you know me from my teens as a content creator. Many of you read my first columns in the newspaper, or remember from my child model/actor days, or remember me writing short stories in maths class, or remember me from my skins and makeup for SL, or remember me from Hype Magazine or The G Spot... creating content isn't something new for me, it's a life calling.

For the first time ever, I'll be working on a machine I will have to chase, instead of it chasing me. For a creative person, this is everything.

Thank you to you all for helping to give my child hope for the future. Thank you all for that. I cannot tell you how much we want to be independent again and to have the freedom to make choices.

Thank you for all of it... life looks brighter and it's not just Dayo feeling renewed hope and bouncing off the walls. It's definitely me too.

We are there... we've squared the brain of this set up. It's a baby beast and future proofed! However, just a little further to go. Just a few more drops and the jug will fill up.

Every little bit helps. Nothing you give towards this campaign is too small, goes unnoticed or is unappreciated. Even if it's just to share this post, you're helping to make a difference.

This Caribbean mother has been drawing since her teens, and making 3D content for 15 years. She has been working to launch her studio since 2018. She suffered tremendous financial losses at the start and throughout the pandemic, that have now made independently funding the studio impossible. She has been struggling just to make ends meet. She needs community support to kickstart the studio and get herself and her son back on track. The son is a talented 3D artist himself, and is starting animation studies in January 2024.

There would be no Hip Hop without the Caribbean. Let’s go back to 1950’s Jamaica when Ska music was created and an artist by the name of Count Machuki was the man who started chatting over records. His new style influenced the likes of U Roy and King Stitt who, inspired by Machuki became widely popular in the 1970’s, years before hip-hop was born.

These men influenced a young man known as Kool Herc, who grew up in Jamaica and immigrated to New York in the late 1960’s. Bringing with him his Caribbean influence of music he started his own sound system and brought to New York the style or chatting over records.

Kool Herc, named the first ever hip hop DJ also influenced Grandmaster Flash - who’s real name is Joseph Saddler who was born in Barbados and moved to New York as a child . Grandmaster Flash attributes much of his musical inspiration to his father’s extensive record collection which much of it was Caribbean music.

These two Caribbean men were instrumental in the birth and development of hip hop in New York.

Now one of the most well known and largest grossing genres of music - we need to shout out our Caribbean pioneers who made this happen.

Special shout out Phife Dawg of Tribe Called Quest who has Trini parents, Will.I.am, Notorious B.I.G, Doug E Fresh, Pete Rock, and Busta Rhymes who are all of Jamaican heritage.
