Explosive. Best description for the changes taking place in Baton Rouge. There's a new energy flooding the streets, filling the theatres, invading the museums, shops and galleries. From spoken word poetry to new adventures in film and theatre. From greater appreciation for local bands to increased sophistication in how we participate and enjoy all this. Art Scouts works like this: You find someone

whose artistry you like and bring them in for a conversation that includes the show's host, the artist, and... You, the scout. Kinda, sorta like the many talent discovery programs out there today. A big difference is the focus on the artist and the conversation, rather than on the art involved per se. What we're looking for here is to give you a sense of the person behind the art. We're interested in people who sing in church as well as symphony musicians, in hair designers as well as architects. What's their back story and how does it tie in with the way their art or creative endeavor has been shaped. The Art Scout is key to this and you're invited to become a scout. Send an email to [email protected]. Include a phone contact and a brief statement of what you're about and something about why you'd like your artist to be featured on Art Scouts. The show airs each week for a half hour and archives of the show are available here, via You Tube. Air time is 10:30-11 am on Saturdays. The show is re-broadcast the following Fridays, first at 6:30-7 am, and again at 5:30-6 pm. Tune to 96.9 FM for Art Scouts ...and tune in to the Arts of Baton Rouge.
