Here 's @loscarabeotarot 's limited edition regional 78-card Italian deck from the interesting town of Piacenza, known for its uniquely important location & as being the first to join the unified Italy. Tarot fans will like to note that it was once ruled by the Sforza, linking it to Milan.
Despite being open to many economic, strategic & historical influences, it retained its enchanting local tarot art for centuries.
I purchased this deck for its rustic traditional art & unique details, such as that fantastic owl & the wonderful dancing devil.
The astute observer will notice Piacenza 1875's designs often derive from or echo the 1835 Milanese Della Rocca (end clip), a testament to the town's influences. But the Piacenza differs in cute details, such as the Fool's white dog vs. the Della Rocca's brown one.
The card-stock's good but already bowing in the box, which to me suggests a problem with the lamination. So I'm probably going to have to wrap it in silk & pop it under a heavy book for a month.
Still, the deck riffle-shuffle smoothly & aren't too large for my hands.
So I recommend this collectible deck for its vibrant colors & folkloric charm. If the Della Rocca seems too formal, fussy & precious to you, you'll love the Piacenza. If you already adore the Della Rocca, then you'll also want a Piacenza!
