I'm thrilled to share that Nicole Newnham's new film THE DISSAPPEARANCE OF SHERE HITE that I had the honor of filming as its director of photography, is making its world premiere at SUNDANCE 2023!!!
°
The film explores Shere Hite’s 1976 bestselling book, The Hite Report which liberated the female or**sm by revealing the most private experiences of thousands of anonymous survey respondents. Her work rocked the American establishment and cultivated current conversations about gender, sexuality, and bodily autonomy that to me in the making of the film, seem just as sensitive as they might have, almost fifty years ago. Her work was largely ostracized from American consciousness, and it's been exhilarating to help reintroduce the impact of her findings though cinema.

What an honor to create with award winning filmmaker and DoP in Stockholm. Sophie is the recent recipient of Sweden’s top prize, the Guldbagge Award for Best Cinematography with Nathalie Alvarez Mesen’s CLARA SOLA, which also won Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Sound Design. It’s a bold vision of resonance with our planet that has the power to dissolve acidic divisions of our time. I can’t wait to see it again!

Sophie and I collaborated on the inaugural episode of a filmmaking podcast I’ve had in mind for years - and I couldn’t think of a more exciting way to kick it off than with one of my favorite filmmakers in one of my favorite places!

In April 2020, just weeks into the pandemic, I got the most amazing phone call from & and to join a team of directors around the world in helping to bring context, insight, and imagination to the crisis our world began enduring. YEAR ZERO is the result of a profound effort of love for this planet and the beings who live here and I CAN NOT wait for people to see it! Im so deeply inspired by Bill, Zein, Guille and Pol for their years’ long sacrifice in bringing this vision into the world and I’m incredibly honored to have been a part of the team. This one is gonna blow your mind! Such overwhelming talent on this project!
