This sounds fun... ST. MARYS LITTLE THEATRE TO HOLD
CHRISTMAS SHOW AUDITIONS OCTOBER 19

Auditions for St. Marys Little Theatre’s Christmas production “Where are you Christmas?” will be held on October 19 at 11 am at Theater by the Trax in St. Marys.

Here’s what the show is all about: Santa has a problem. A world-class meanie (Grinch) has threatened to steal Christmas from the little town of St. Marys because the town is just “too happy.” Santa’s challenge to keep Christmas alive sets the stage for this holiday production, an original play set in St. Marys, Georgia, interwoven with traditional and contemporary music.

To be performed at Theater by the Trax December 13-15, “Where Are You Christmas” is an enchanting musical that will appeal to all ages and is a celebration of the true spirit of Christmas.

St. Marys Little Theatre Chair Gloria Hurley said, “It’s the perfect event to get everyone immersed in the Christmas spirit and to experience the joy of discovering what Christmas is really about.”

Interested performers should attend auditions on October 19 at 11 a.m. at Theater by the Trax, 1000 Osborne Street. They will be asked to read from a script and perform any song of their choice if they are a vocalist. Roles that need to be filled include:

Young boy and young girl (ages 7-9)
Mother and father
Elves (ages 5 to 12)
Santa
Mrs. Claus
The Grinch
Ebeneezer Scrooge
Vocalists

Lawrence Mackie and I are going nuts trying to remember who the headliner was at the 2001 (2002?) Blue Crab Festival in Palatka, Florida? The Fernandina Pirates Club were there... he was a great, blues/rock inspired musician. He had an album drop around that time. Anybody remember? (It's always Memorial Day weekend.)

Florida Rental Tax decreases June 1, 2024:
"State Sales Tax Rate Imposed on Rentals, Leases, or Licenses
To Use Real Property Reduced to 2.0%
Effective June 1, 2024, the state sales tax rate imposed under section 212.031, Florida Statutes (F.S.), on the total rent charged for renting, leasing, letting, or granting a license to use real property (also known as “commercial rentals”) is reduced from 4.5% to 2.0%. Some examples of real property rentals subject to tax under s. 212.031, F.S., include rentals of commercial office or retail space, warehouses, and self-storage units or mini-warehouses. The total rent charged includes all consideration due and payable by the tenant for the privilege or right to use or occupy the real property. The local option discretionary sales surtax imposed by the county where the real property is located continues to apply to the total rent charged. "

We love our local Fernandina Pirates Club... this is their 50th Anniversary. Put on your shiny buckled shoes and your silver breetches and join them at the City Commissioner Meeting on Ash St. Tues. at 6pm. Pirate Invasion!!!
