... In the end, Star Trek: Section 31 aspires to chart new territory while remaining tethered to Trek’s ideals—a precarious balancing act that results in an uneven hybrid. Occasionally thought-provoking but too often mired in clichés and overused tropes, the film feels less like a bold reinvention and more like a hesitant step forward. Its exploration of human fate, cosmic order, and the shaping of identity is intriguing but incomplete, leaving audiences with a sense of unrealized potential. For Trek completists, Section 31 offers enough to warrant a viewing; for those seeking a daring, cohesive expansion of the Star Trek universe, it may feel more like a mirror dimly lit.

Sadly, it is the worst of the Trek films. It highlights how far Trek has fallen in its cinematic form, from its intellectual, cosmic science fiction roots in 1979 to mediocre "content" released straight to Paramount+.

Here is our review on WOLF MAN!

Wolf Man thrives on its intimate exploration of generational trauma and identity, yet its cerebral approach and stripped-down realism leave the mythic grandeur of the werewolf legend hauntingly absent.

Listen to the entire review:

Leigh Whannell’s Wolf Man boldly reimagines the werewolf mythos as a grounded, psychological study of trauma and transformation, but its rejection of gothic allure risks alienating those drawn to the genre’s supernatural tragedy.

Star Trek: Lower Decks' “Fully Dilated” blends Star Trek nostalgia with Lower Decks’ signature humor, delivering a hilarious and heartfelt tale of time dilation, professional rivalry, and personal growth.

"Fully Dilated" captures the essence of classic Star Trek storytelling with a comedic twist, as a time-dilation mission strands Mariner, Tendi, and T’Lyn on a pre-warp planet. The episode humorously navigates personal rivalries and self-discovery, with Tendi’s rivalry with T’Lyn leading to a h...

Interesting film. It has been unfairly panned but actually relies on various intriguing philosophical ideas pertaining to artificial intelligence, specifically the idea of lived experience and how consciousness arises through engagement with the world. It also skirts the contemporary discourse around automation and the dwindling labor force, exploring the societal and ethical implications of replacing human labor with AI-driven systems.

Many critics do not consider Fox a serious actor, leading them to dismiss her films without taking the time to evaluate the final product more thoughtfully. While this film may not necessarily break boundaries, it remains a valid and respectable contribution to the genre.

**I plan to write more on this film later.

"Of Gods and Angels" delivers a quintessential Lower Decks experience, leaning heavily on humor and character-driven storytelling while paying homage to Star Trek’s diplomatic and technobabble-filled past. The episode thrives in its meta-approach to character development, particularly through Mariner’s mentorship of Ensign Olly, a chaotic demigod whose presence mirrors Mariner’s earlier rebellious tendencies. The dynamic adds depth to Mariner’s growth, balancing her characteristic wit with newfound maturity.

Giddy up! A new Weird West Radio episode on 'ORGAN TRAIL' is ready for your ear holes.

Quick Thoughts: Despite its horror-inflected title, Organ Trail leans closer to a Western thriller, exploring themes of isolation and humanity’s struggle against the wilderness. The landscapes are breathtakingly unforgiving, a cinematic ode to the genre’s existential undertones. Yet, the film falters in its tonal balance. It teases horror but rarely commits, leaving the audience with a simmering tension that never quite boils over.

Organ Trail (2023) is a snowbound survival tale that trades in the grit of the Old West but struggles to find its footing between genres. Directed by Michael Patrick Jann and written by Meg Turner, the film crafts a visually arresting frontier world, pairing the icy isolation of 1870s Montana with v...
