Singer and Performing artist, Shiamak Davar is known as the Guru of Contemporary dance in India. He is responsible for modernizing India’s dance scene especially in the film and theatre industry, and is respected for his very unique and popular “Shiamak Style” of indo modern and contemporary dance. Shiamak has shared the stage with artists such as Sting, Bryan Adams and Eddie Grant. His Hindi Pop

album ‘Mohabbat Karle’ sold 1.2 million copies in India. His recently released music album Shabop features songs with Shankar Mahadevan, Hariharan and Shweta Pandit. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of the world’s largest dance education movement which has enriched the lives of over a million dance enthusiasts across India, Canada, Australia, the United Arab Emirate and United Kingdom. With the motto, Have Feet. Will Dance.™, Shiamak continues to spread the joy of dance across the world. In 2011, Middlesex University conferred an Honorary PhD to Shiamak for his contribution to the world of dance and the performing arts. Shiamak has directed, designed and performed at global events like the Closing Ceremony of The Commonwealth Games (Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010), The World Economic Forum (Davos, 2006), entertained world leaders including Bill Clinton, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and has interacted and / or worked with international stars like Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, Richard Gere, Will Smith, Michael Douglas, Stevie Wonder and legendary American choreographer Debbie Allen for various projects. He has also directed, designed and choreographed entertainment acts for international star Jermaine Jackson, world-renowned music composer A. Rahman and almost every Bollywood super star for various projects across the world, including ‘The Unforgettable Tour’ - the biggest Bollywood show touring America, Canada and the UK and performed by superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and others. He was the official entertainment designer and choreographer for the Indian International Film Academy (IIFA) Awards for ten consecutive years (2002 to 2011). He has choreographed and designed songs for some of the biggest Bollywood blockbusters and forayed into Hollywood with his choreography for Mission Impossible : Ghost Protocol. He won the National Award (from the President of India) for choreography in his first feature film - Dil Toh Pagal Hai. Shiamak choreographed and designed songs for the Franco Dragone musical production INDIA directed by Brian Burke. Zangoora – The Gypsy Prince, the biggest Bollywood stage musical ever, which he choreographed, has performed over 900 shows and still running successfully at The Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon. He has been the ‘Dance Guru’ for the television dance reality shows ‘Dance Ke Superstars’ (Superstars of Dance), Jhalak Dikhla Ja (Dancing with the Stars), Dance Premier League (DPL) and celebrity guest judge for ‘India’s Got Talent’ and many other television shows. Shiamak’s Victory Arts Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, committed to making dance a meaningful experience for everyone. Using dance as therapy, VAF empowers individuals who are underprivileged, vulnerable to HIV/AIDS or with special needs. Reaching out to over 5,000 such individuals, VAF enriches their lives, instills in them a strong sense of self-belief and confidence, and endeavours to seamlessly integrate them into the community, in the process leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Shiamak is a true icon for global cultural exchange. Not only has he brought a flavor of International culture into India, he has made sure that an essence of Modern India is also spread across the world. With dance as his language, spirit his instrument, and soul his essence, the world is truly Shiamak’s stage!

During this camp the children will be engaged in learning some of the current Bollywood songs which are favourites of many! They will be working towards a special presentation for parents and families at the end of the batch! They will be creating props, playing tons of dance based games and activities, crafting, and watching a Bollywood Dance movie with Popcorn!

SHIAMAK Usa is presenting a first-of-its-kind dance extravaganza - the ‘spirit of INDIA’, celebrating the upcoming 75th anniversary of India’s Independence.

This unique show provides a platform for the South Asian community to unite, engage, perform, and celebrate India’s diverse culture on June 17 at NJCU auditorium. The evening will take the audience through India’s spirituality, mythology, history, festivals, weddings and of course Bollywood.
